Just being honest, but no way that $15 an hour will help you live in NYC, so their whole argument is ignorant. Find a place to live then add all the other “must pays” of life, and it’s simply not possible.

That should wake up most working people about how insane their entire city and state are. I could live very modestly on $15 an hour in the midwest, but I could do it.

The people put out of work become dependents on the democrat welfare plantation so as far as the democrat party is concerned, this is a win/win situation with some getting a raise and the rest more likely to become useful idiots.

It’s not just the layoffs and restaurants going under.

The places still open have had to raise prices and/or change their menus. Neither of which will likely make for good revenue.

Assuming you have 6 people working at any given time in a fast food place and you are open 10 hours per day it means any $1.00 increase comes out to 60 dollars per day. If you are open 360 days per year it comes out to $21,600.00 in extra payroll cost just for wages. There is also $1652.40 in more payroll taxes. Assuming every employee went from $10 to $15 it would mean $116,262 in more cost. Most franchises earn well under 100K per year.

That’s great news!

The economic mastermind AOC will now push
To spend all that unused $15 an hour job money
On fixing subways and streets !

I can’t even imagine existing in NYC for $15 per hour. That’s what McDonalds cost for lunch! I’d be living in a box and sh*tting in the streets! oh wait...

the only reason the communists fight to get $15 per hour minimum wage in restaurants is so that unions can deduct their fees from the paychecks of hard working restaurant industry workers.

Won’t that be a big surprise for all the new $15 / hour workers... now they can pay union dues!

New York's democrat: high taxes, poor services, corruption, people leaving - - moving out to other States. Idiot representatives who send Amazon packing... Bad choices are catching up with them.

Also there's a good chance more people are working under the table - and what few benefits they had are gone. So the opposite of what the ‘do gooders’ wanted is happening.

Was in Manhattan last month for a Business meeting. Not one restaurant worker spoke english. These were in high priced restaurants. One women cleaning our table did not understand one word we said. None of them were worth $15 an hour.

Step 1: Promise the moon and pay for it with debt.
Step 2: Get yourself elected.
Step 3: Get rich.
Step 4: Get entrenched in your position.
Step 5: When the debt must be paid, make those who aren’t in government into serfs to pay it.

5 simple steps to restore serfdom.

“New York City council members are trying to shield restaurant employees from “unfair” firings. Labor lawyer Michael J. Lotito, whose firm represents the restaurant industry, told The Times that a “just cause” firing provision for fast food employers “would be a first in the country.”

Truly insane. Like any other liberal “solution”, this will only make the situation worse. Any business will think not twice but ten times before hirinng anyone.
