Russia tells Syrian asylum seekers: You need to go home

MOSCOW (Reuters) - In pre-war Syria, Safaa Al-Kurdi sold wedding dresses. Fed up with the conflict, the mother-of-three fled Damascus four years ago and sought asylum in Moscow. Now, Russia is saying she must go home.

Safaa is one of thousands of Syrian refugees that Russia, an ally of President Bashar al-Assad, is urging to return. Large parts of Syria are safe, Russian officials say, and there is no reason for asylum seekers like Safaa, 55, to remain.

The Russian stance is creating problems for Syrians here who are seeing their asylum requests rejected. Banned from working, they face the threat of arrest and deportation.

At least the Russian’s got it right. Can’t wait to see the trail of tears and the Left crying and complaining about the forcible removal of these people. That is, unless they’re the ones doing the forcible removal, like the Gonzalez kid.

Banned from working...hmmm, what a novel idea. Maybe we should try it..... :^) Kidding, good golly we are so stupid to continue letting illegals work with phony S.S. numbers and not enforce the law.

You want to ban them from working so that they can collect welfare?

In Russia not working means living on charity because they do not have welfare as we know it. Being banned from working could have disasterous results for the Syrians.

Thanks for posting that. No safety hammock in Russia? I just found out in Sweden that they will not hire women who are planning on being pregnant and they question them extensively because of the paid time off. I hate to say it, but what I am finding out about countries is not what I have been taught.

In Russia they have 6 month pregnancy and 18 months paid maternity leave but countrary to Sweden it is paid by the government not the business. Maternity leave might be extended to 32 months but it is only paid symbolically after first 18 months.
Legal immigrants has right to work or not depending on a visa status. Historically Russia is only second to US in the World per number of immigrants from other nations.
