Imagine block after block of Stalinesque monstrosities of apartments, or a thousand Cabrini Green apartments in each city.
I use to cycle through Las Colinas in Irving, TX and was floored by the detention-facility aesthetic some of the (very expensive) apartment buildings had. Now that look is fairly common in Dallas.

An old shopping center near me was razed and after 3 years of waiting and construction dust and noise the places are now uniform green painted cinder block looking “condos and apartments”. A local newspaper online comment said “they look like Eastern European communist housing in the 1950s.”
