My inlaws were world travelers. I remember their all time favorite place was Denmark. Visited sometime between mid 70s to mid 80s.

It was always bad. It just finally got enough national and world-wide exposure that the authorities had to do something.
I doubt they are really getting to the bottom of the problem because it is being covered up and excused by people all the way to the top (almost) of the government.
Muslims who protect and excuse these groomers as doing what Muslim men do everywhere have gotten themselves appointed to positions at the highest levels of local and national police and so-called community service and their main focus in life is the protection of the reputation of Islam.
They know full-well that Islam encourages the preying on young women but they look the other way.
The real problem exists, however, in the fact that the people of the UK are prohibited from speaking honestly about this cancer.

That said, as insane as this situation is some heroes speak out about the problem. Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson come to mind.
