PAYING a slave owner his asking price for his slaves, even if your motive for buying them is to free them, simply gives the slave owner money to buy even more. His price likely gives him enough to buy more than one back on the local black market, so it actually creates more slaves than reduces it.

I do not trust CNN to tell the truth. I doubt there are 20,000 child slaves on lake Volta, though there are certainly some. Giving money to a CNN sanctioned group will only make the problem worse.

I believe that is what played out in the Sudan years ago; when Western groups started buying slaves to free them, the Arabs just went out with bigger nets to catch more...
