If they can’t agree to condemn infanticide, how can they be expected to condemn something as trivial as anti Semitism?

*sarcasm*

Here you go, slightly edited. Posted without attibution because I’m adding a bit:

1. Most Jewish people in the USA are NE urban voters and over educated. They vote pretty much just like every other NE urban over educated group. So the issue is slightly overblown.

2. Many second-wave Jewish people came from Europe/Russia when the two political choices were Communist (who promised equal treatment to all — a lie, yes, but a seductive lie) and various kind of Nationalist (who promised to kill the Jews and meant it). So there is an irrational ethnic fondness for the lies of commies. Bernie Sanders falls into this camp.

3. The Republican Party used to be the white shoe law firms, Lutherans, and country clubs. They didn´t like Jews much. (This the the running joke that was CaddyShack -— the Rodney Dangerfield character being what this crowd thinks about Jewish people.) Think James Baker “F—k the Jews, they don´t vote for us anyway.” There are echos of this idea any time these threads come up.

4. Going back to #2 a bit, Nationalism has historically been bad for Jews. Even now, we´re called “not really white” or “dual loyalty”. So Nationalism is logically viewed with skepticism.

5. Yeah, we do identify with victims of discrimination. [I´ve been beat up because I´m Jewish several times — junior high beating put me in the hospital.] (NOT ME, the person from whom I am plagiarizing) Thus we are often suckers for do-gooder programs.

6. And finally, there is evangelical Christianity, which I consider some of the finest, most earnest, people in the world. [the “I” is not me, again, but I agree.] Of course, I am Orthodox, so I am secure in my theology. Anyway, there are lies promulgated by Democrat groups that the only reason Christians like Israel is to somehow force the End of the World as We Know It by . . . something. A fair number of Jews will believe this lie.

Finally, there is hope. We Orthodox are growing much faster than the Reform. We have children; they have dogs.

We Orthodox vote Republican, more so than Southern Baptists.

And yet we are the racist ones. Do we get to call them all anti-Semites now like they have been calling us for years?

“Apparently even non-binding symbolism is too controversial within their own caucus,” Mr. McConnell said as he opened the Senate floor.

They went to a good source for this analysis; there is nobody with more expertise at passing non-binding symbolism to mollify the base without really meaning it than Mitch McConnell.

Thank you.

Very informative.

I think that the first thing Christians want to express to Jews is that we hold you in high esteem.

Everything else is really minor compared to that.

We know something of your history, and we are frankly physically sickened by how some people have treated Jews.

Slavery, pogroms, death camps.....

It’s literally heart breaking.

We are also aware of the stupid behavior of some of our American citizens towards Jews.

It was, and is, stupid behavior.

It is understandable that Jews are a bit hesitant towards non-Jews..

History provides many reasons why they should be.

We Christians want everyone to go to Heaven. We want everyone to spend eternity with God.

This makes us prone to wanting to share our faith.

I personally believe that Jews, true religious Jews, are right with God and will go to heaven.

I also know that there are Christians who believe that they must save Jews.

Well, I guess their motivation is OK, but I think it’s not necessary.

We also worry about the lack of missionaries and active spreading of their religion by the Jews.

It may be a foolish worry, but still, it’s there.

Do the Jews not like us? Do they consider us less than them and somehow, kind of dirty to them?

Or is it just hesitance brought about by centuries of awful treatment?

Anyway....

I truly think that Christians hold Jews in high esteem.

Sometimes, though, we feel like adopted children in a family that has children by birth.

While we can never be birth children, we still want to be your brothers and sisters.

“Do the Jews not like us? Do they consider us less than them and somehow, kind of dirty to them?”

Those are huge questions, but the second is easier to answer.

“Do they consider us less than them and somehow, kind of dirty to them?””

While I am sure there are asshole Jews just like their are asshole anyone, that is not what Judaism teaches. We are taught that G-d looked upon all the peoples of the world, and then saw the most miserable, despised, least, stiff necked, and pathetic people among all the peoples — us Jews.

He decided He would make this group of complete misfits into His people, and bring the Mosiach though us, as a testament to HIM. After all, if He could make this group of people into HIS people, He could do anything.

So, no, a religious Jew, does not think he is anything special. To the contrary, in fact.

I think a lot of this comes about because we are instructed to keep separate, which can come across as rude.

In particular, we don’t shake hands with the opposite sex (in that I pledged to only touch my wife/kids/etc, to make her touch magical to me). That’s often taken as rude, and I get it. But I didn’t make the rule.

++++++++

Question No. 1: “Do the Jews not like us?”

Well, I can’t speak for “the Jews”. Unlike Al Sharpton, I don’t presume to speak for my people.

But, as a Modern Orthodox Israeli, I have to say I love Americans, excepting Americans who try to drive in the Old City in Jerusalem. Take a cab, d—n it, or you are going to kill someone.

When I was a teenager, I lived in Gush Katif and was very familiar with the local Arabs (and friendly), so I got my license and acted as a tour guide, generally to Americans of the Baptist-or-similar persuasion. Very nice, polite, and loving people, who very clearly worship our G-d, in their way.

I can’t speak for anyone other than myself. But I would note that, in the coming election, it’s a fight between candidates to say who is closer to Donald Trump, who is loved in Israel.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to answer my questions.

I am ashamed that Americans in The House Of Representatives can’t find the moral courage to disavow the foolish utterings of a foolish woman.

I borrow from one of my favorite authors, Norman MacLean, when he wrote something like,

“I had never wanted to kick a woman in the ass until now.”

Not a mean kick. Just enough to lift her off the ground.

I have really enjoyed our posts!

I suspect you are much busier than I am. I am an old, retired Armor Officer.
One of my heroes is Avigdor Kahalani.

I would be happy to hear more about your religion and your interesting life if you have the time to write to me about it.

For decades the Democrats have used our tax money to organize these radical and extremist groups. You wonder where all of these protesters come from. The Democrats train them to act like a mob that they can call on at a moments time, well now the mob is turning on you, how does it feel?
