My grandmother came over when she was about 13. She had to have a sponsor. In other words, she had food, shelter and clothing available to her.

I think that's how immigration is supposed to work...you are sponsored or have a job.

Yep...if you cannot demonstrate you have a skill or trade; a job; a sponsor then you should not get in. It’s so common sense that you wonder how anybody can argue otherwise.

Same here, my parents came over from Italy in the very early 1900’s. They had a sponsor and skills, they also went to work a short time later.
