This is why there is no way outsiders can ever survive in DC. There are way too many rules. A gotcha is always going to getcha.
Not defending her though. This seems like a no-brainer. Even common sense would tell you to at least look into absolutely anything that benefits you in the least little way and evaluate it against law.
