So, to keep it in simple language for you - most products use parts and components from different areas. Take the car industry - the seats will be made in the Netherlands with leather from cows in Poland, prepared in Spain and fashioned into seat covers in Italy. This is merged with British made plastic chairs with German and Swiss components and the entire car is assembled in France and then sent to the UK for painting. That's just a simplified example.

What happens post Brexit? The borders come up. Even if they are simplified, the UK will either be part of the customs union or not

If not, then customs is needed for every single thing.

If it IS part of the customs union then it invalidates what the UK wanted - it wanted to reject the 4 freedoms (of goods, services, people ad capital)
