Thanks. I was hoping you would read my post.

Operating informally based upon understandings can only go so far. If the government lacks the confidence of the Commons, and that fact is widely known, how can the actions of that government be seen as legitimate?

Pass!....The Westminster Parliament has been around so long you’d think there would be a precedent for everything, but I don’t think anybody’s found one for this. There are some parallels with Peel and the repeal of the Corn Laws in the 1840s, but they’re still pretty remote.
