Federal prosecutors are conducting a criminal investigation into data deals Facebook struck with some of the world’s largest technology companies, intensifying scrutiny of the social media giant’s business practices as it seeks to rebound from a year of scandal and setbacks.
A grand jury in New York has subpoenaed records from at least two prominent makers of smartphones and other devices, according to two people who were familiar with the requests and who insisted on anonymity to discuss confidential legal matters. Both companies had entered into partnerships with Facebook, gaining broad access to the personal information of hundreds of millions of its users.
The companies were among more than 150, including Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Sony, that had cut sharing deals with the world’s dominant social media platform. The agreements, previously reported in The New York Times, let the companies see users’ friends, contact information and other data, sometimes without consent. Facebook has phased out most of the partnerships over the past two years.
“We are cooperating with investigators and take those probes seriously,” a Facebook spokesman said in a statement. “We’ve provided public testimony, answered questions and pledged that we will continue to do so.”

Have people forgotten seeing Zuckerberg with Obama saying they were partnering on a new direction for Facebook? They never said exactly what they were doing, but I figured it would probably entail spying on Facebook members for the Obama Admin. I remember Zuckerberg looking nerdy, saying ‘ I’m down with that’. The Dem agenda is insidious.

Each participant — and participation is mandatory with people being stopped to check if they have their cell phone with them and the app turned on— receives a score that determines what rights they are entitled to in China such as flying in airplanes.
Too much time playing video games? Deduction. Negative political speech? Deduction. Interacting with people that the government objects to? Deduction.
If you misbehave, the app informs your friends that you are misbehaving so that they can attempt to whip you into shape.
The objective is a docile labor force that does as it is told.
The Orwellian vision just 35 years later than 1984.

Yesterday FB was a scrambled mess and boy, was I feeling paranoid.
It's a little better today, but some postings don't happen.
MY offenses EACH TIME was using the word muzzie instead of muslim (always lower case BTW), and they went back two years, one year and a couple more recent.
I stay with FB because my Filipino inlaws all use it and we need the communication link.
Think about it as if there never was a facebook. How would you communicate with your Filipino in-laws then?
There are other ways.
It is what it is.
MY inlaws are third world with barely cell phone reception, there are no computers nor all the fancy comm sevices, SKYPE or VIBER (both popular in the urban areas).
Mama has to go up the road or twenty miles into town for her cell to work (which took us about four months to get her to learn to use it and then to actually use it.
Trust me ... FB is high tech to a lot of my folks.
