This guy could have simply been a good parent and made his son and daughter study a bit harder in high school. He certainly had the $ few hundred to give the kids some weekend SAT / ACT prep courses as well. But that would mean giving out some discipline and guidance.
There are many parents who are too busy, selfish, or lazy to be real parents. The ones with money use that to try and cover their mistakes.
