Romney to vote against Trump's emergency declaration

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said on Thursday that he will oppose President Trump's emergency declaration to build the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

"I will vote today for the resolution of disapproval. This is a vote for the Constitution and for the balance of powers that is at its core," Romney said in a statement.

Romney is the sixth Republican senator to say he will vote for the resolution of disapproval, which is getting a vote in the Senate later Thursday.

Illegal aliens only benefit the Democrats. He’s working for the other side.

I voted for him too, but what other choice did we have??

It wasn’t an enthusastic vote, like it was for Trump.

I can understand Rand voting against it. It’s what he does. But Romney’s vote makes no sense, unless he’s deep state.

Wait, maybe that’s it. ;)

He is working for himself, and always has. He wants to challenge Trump in 2020, but probably doesn’t have the balls. He may see himself as young enough still to run in 2024 (again).

Every one of the R’s that vote against President Trump on this issue better be primaried when their up again for reelection. These people are lower than pond scum. There are no Constitutional or legal issues with what the President has done. One just needs to refer to the National Emergencies Act of 1976 and the Military Construction Codification Act of 1982 for the specific authorities to do what he’s done. This claim by Romney that he’s voting for the Constitution is plain BS. He’s voting against President Trump because he and his polite society friends don’t approve of Donald Trump so like spoiled children, who are never exposed to the consequences of their decisions, Romney and the others are voting against President Trump and the security of the American People. We the People have long memories, we will remember this betrayal by all the R’s that vote against us.

Romney is voting for open borders because he is an open borders guy. This fight is about policy. Not personality.

He’s retiring so he’s full blown leftist at this point. Alexander was a decent governor back in the late 70’s early 80’s after that he’s not worth a warm pitcher of dog piss.

He however is part and parcel part of the TN Republican parties mindless country club, leftist mentality. Howard Baker, Alexander, Corkhole, Sundquist-(Big time lying SOB!) Haslam, all left of center R’s in a conservative state.

Romney staked out a position in 2012 as “tough on illegal immigration”. Like all things Romney, it was an act. The man has zero core values, other than a belief that he should have power.

They are “voting to terminate the national emergency” This needs to be hung around the necks of every elected Republican. Nobody gets a pass. The party owns this betrayal of its voters.

Don’t think so, he;s voting against the man because he, like other elites have their shorts in a bundle, they don’t believe Trump should be in their club. If anyone else were President they would not be voting the way they are. It’s all about the man who made the call. The only R making his vote based upon his philosophy is Rand Paul, he totally wrong due to the facts and the language of the two laws I posted above. Those laws prove President Trump is acting in a legal Constitutional manner and every R including Rand Paul should be voting in support of the President when he’s acting to protect the American People from the ongoing invasion of progressive socialist dem voters.
