Syria blasts Senator Graham over comment on Golan

The Syrian government on Tuesday condemned a statement by US senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) who said that the Golan Heights should remain "forever" under the control of Israel, AFP reports.

Graham, a Washington ally of President Donald Trump and a strong backer of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, toured the Golan Heights with Netanyahu on Monday.

He said the idea of the strategic plateau going to any party other than Israel was "off the table", vowing to work to have the United States recognize the Golan as part of Israel "now and forever".

A Syrian foreign ministry source on Tuesday condemned Graham's statement, saying it reflected Washington's bias in favor of Israel, state news agency SANA said.

Graham’s remarks demonstrated "the arrogance of the US administration and how it views regional issues with Zionist eyes and with the interests of Israel" in mind, the source claimed.

"The Syrian people... are more resolute and determined to continue their struggle until the occupied Golan is fully liberated," added the Syrian source.

On Syrian People's the to-do list, that struggle is after the struggle to get rid of Assad and Baath, kill everyone with a different religious outlook than them in Syria, and get rid of/become pals with/tolerate Iran and Russian presence. Israel would have to be nuts to surrender the high ground to that collection of kooks.

Syria shelled and machine gunned from their Golan Heights from 1947 until 1967 when they lost it after they prosecuted a war of annihilation against the Jewish State of Israel. Israel had one small hill across the Jordan River. As an Assistant Scoutmaster I took our BSA Troop in Tel Aviv to that location, thru a narrow trail across a minefield, into the place that served as Israel’s base. It was shelled daily for 20-years. The IDF would resupply the garrison and trenches overnight with infantry soldiers who manned the positions always under fire. Peace is Syria is akin to war. Damascus will one day be destroyed.

Iran’s ruling clerics days are numbered. Time for Trump to finish peeling off their allies like NK, Syria, AQ and others. The end of VN and Maduro’s regime will further errode Iran’s desire to kill American embassy person, citizens and business abroad. The field of battle is becoming more localized back into the Mid-East. Were our “allies” in the EU who give sanctuary to the MB revoke their status, NATO would be free (US Assets) from localized Iranian military assets poised to attack in a general war with Iran. Soon Syria will see another crippling phase in the rollback of Iran on their soil.

The Golan Heights kinda remind me of Diamond Heights in San Francisco. At least in the pics. It would be easy to bomb the Transamerica Pyramid from that location. Target practice.

Is Lindsey Graham trying to prove REp. Ilhan Omar's point?

Hey Lindsey: Get the f#%& back home and worry about protecting THIS country first ... even if you have to go out and start piling bricks along our southern border with your bare hands.

Hey Syria...it doesn’t really matter if the US or anyone else “recognizes” the truth of the matter. Israel is not going to give up the Golan Heights. Period. You can’t make them.

Now that you mention it, that would be a better use of his time and effort. Israel can and will manage to hold onto the Golan until Syrians become lovable, cuddly care bears, regardless of Lindsey’s input or lack thereof.

They actually did retake it briefly in the first attacks in 1973, but then were pushed off of both that peak and the Syrian Golan peak as well. A friend of mine had to man the Syrian Golan outpost. No danger of them retaking it. They had to work tirelessly to keep from getting snowbound in the sole cabin at the summit, which was the total Syrian outpost. It was terribly cold. Mercifully, the IDF withdrew from Golan II at the end of the war, and returned to Golan I, where it’s relatively balmy.

Many Jews now see how much Dems hate Jews and Israel, so US recognizing the fact that Golan belongs to Israel on the ground as a fact could get Trump some needed votes in Florida, Pennsylvania where many Jews vote.

Israel seldom talks about the ‘73 war.
The USA State Dept told Golda Meyer that something was building and they ignored the warning.

It was the week that Israel nearly fell.
Only Nixon’s emergency resupply saved them from collapse.
That and the brave sacrifice of key tank crews in Golan.
