That’s nothing. In my high school and Junior College, we were absolutely required to have an actual Battle Rifle stored in our closets, and carried on our shoulders and drilled with daily.

(First an M-1 Garand, and later an M-14).

(Of course it was a Military Academy, but still.... and the great thing was that High School Seniors and above, were also allowed to keep personal firearms in their lockers / closets too.) And Cadet Officers carried Sabers too.

And can you then imagine how it was the military couldn’t be armed at fort Hood? Just shows how ridiculous things have become.
