If recycling made sense, someone would be making a profit from it. The fact is, recycling costs more than it's worth. It's a religion, neither good economics nor good policy.

Yep, I’ve said before that if recycling made sense, people would be bidding for my garbage. So far, no.

Recycling makes sense in an economy of scarce commodities. It was widespread during WW II, with scrap paper drives, metals, even lard being collected and used in the war effort.
In a post-scarcity economy it makes no economic sense.
