Jack Cashill: Malia, Michelle, Barack and the College Admissions Scandal
americanthinker.com ^ | Jack Cashill

Posted on 03/18/2019 7:01:27 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

People have been scamming their ways into prestige universities for decades, maybe centuries, but in the past they have had the good sense not to put the cash on the table. It seems that in this scandal a few of the bribers and their brokers may well pay for their indiscretion with prison sentences as well.

The media pretend to be shocked. In an editorial on the scandal, the New York Times singled out Harvard University for its “special admissions preferences and back doors for certain applicants.” This is the same New York Times, however, that published an entirely uncritical article three years prior headlined, “Malia Obama Rebels, Sort of, by Choosing Harvard.”

...

Michelle was the next to attend Harvard, in her case Harvard Law School. “Told by counselors that her SAT scores and her grades weren’t good enough for an Ivy League school,” writes Christopher Andersen in Barack and Michelle, “Michelle applied to Princeton and Harvard anyway.”

Sympathetic biographer Liza Mundy writes, “Michelle frequently deplores the modern reliance on test scores, describing herself as a person who did not test well.” She did not write well either. Mundy charitably describes her senior thesis, "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community," as “dense and turgid.”

The less charitable Christopher Hitchens observed, “To describe [the thesis] as hard to read would be a mistake; the thesis cannot be ‘read’ at all, in the strict sense of the verb. This is because it wasn't written in any known language.” Hitchens exaggerated only a little.

Who was getting paid at the schools?

They didn’t have to get paid. It was all in the name of diversity. Obama got in because he was black and had an islamic name.

The faculty at Harvard Law suspended to regular student voting to select the president of the Harvard Law Review. They selected obama got a black and islamic sounding guy all at the same time. They were able to check both off the list.

But the OP is also right—they wouldn’t have made “minus zero”.

Boy that sure sounds like it is full of smartitude.

People write sentences like that when they can’t actually say anything smart, so they use smart-sounding sentences, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

““The study inquires about the respondents’ motivations to benefit him/herself, and the following social groups: the family, the Black community, the White community, God and church, The U.S. society, the non-White races of the world, and the human species as a whole.”
[sic] Michele Obama.” Is this from the Onion? It CAN’T be real can it?

Re: The selection from Michele Obama’s thesis quoted:

If Princeton is like most schools, the Mooch had to have some kind of faculty advisor to supervise her thesis, and that person had to approve it. I can understand MO taking advantage of the situation - she’s been doing that all her life, from her cushy job at the U of Chicago Med School to her 8 years in the lap of luxury at taxpayer’s expense. What’s harder to understand is an Ivy League prof signing off on an embarrassment like that thesis - it should’ve been blue-lined and bounced back to it’s source as many times as it took until it reflected at least some reasonable degree of literacy.

The thesis:

I challenge anyone to read it in its entirety.

That would have required a lot of work on the prof’s part, and continued interaction with obnoxious Mooch. So it’s somewhat understandable....

I wonder if Harvard paid the Obamas to send daughter there?

No way. Harvard is desperate to admit minorities. They have a dedicated admission office to recruit minorities. If the applicant is famous or even qualified, all the better. Minorities are now the majority at Harvard. Think about that.

Good point. On the whole, I don’t think academics are under-compensated, but the effort likely required to convert that steaming pile into something respectable would surely merit the educational equivalent of combat pay.

The reactions by Michelle Obama’s Princton classmates was because they were all wondering how someone so stupid got into Princeton in the first place. My best guess is that it was because her father was a Chicago city alderman.

It’s real. It wouldn’t pass in a decent high school English composition class submission.

“The study inquires about the respondents’ motivations to benefit him/herself themselves, and the following social groups: the family, the Black community, the White community, God and church, The U.S. society, the non-White races of the world, and the human species as a whole.”

Respondents' is in the possessive plural, hence the corresponding personal pronouns must likewise be in the plural.

That's just for starters. I'm sure that if I subjected myself to the rest of the text, I'd want to "off" myself by the conclusion.

Regards,

That’s a thesis? It would be better characterized as a screed.

We will only get to see it [Obola’s academic record] when everyone concerned is dead and gone (well beyond fielding questions) and then the finalized ‘fiction’ will be made available.
_____________________________________________________

And what group of people mostly controls access to those records? Mostly ageing, frustrated female academics who worship the Witch. Suddenly it becomes clear why the Obola admin. covered for the Witch, supported her 2016 nomination and campaign, and rigged the nomination against every other possible DemonShit candidate. If Obola hadn’t done that, the Witch would have dropped a dime on him with her ageing female academic buddies and the world would know all about Obola and Moochelle, including why Moochelle got squeezed out of the IL bar after only four years of practice.

I read the Introduction. It seems she was worried about losing her “blackness” and her starting to “act white”.
