U.S. employers listed almost 7.6 million job openings in January, near the record high of 7.63 million in November, a sign that businesses are eager to hire more workers.
The Labor Department also said Friday that the number of people quitting their jobs is up, another sign of a healthy economy, because it indicates people are leaving their jobs for ones that typically pay better, ......
Last spring, job openings began to outpace the number of unemployed for the first time in the 18 years the data has been tracked......The strong job market is having positive effects across the economy.
he AP reported that most analysts still expect the job market to grow this year and wages to continue to increase.

There are a lot of people unemployed, who do not show up on the unemployment rolls.
They got benefits and dropped off.
Those on the unemployment rolls, haven’t been out of work as long.
There are plenty of employable people out there, it’s just that there aren’t enough people from Mexico, India, and other places who are willing to work for less wages.
Excellent.
Of course they could not possibly give credit ti president Trump.
There are Over 10 Million lazy POS’S just in California collecting Welfare. End Welfare and watch how fast those jobs are filled.
This is of course the fault of President Trump.
Too bad many of the unemployed people aren’t qualified for these jobs.
The US labor market is a giant ladder. People are always getting better jobs. About 60 million people a year, or 5 million people a month, quit their job to move on to a better one. That’s how these jobs get filled. As everybody moves up, there are openings at the bottom for the people who aren’t so great, but want to work and get experience.
I hope Obama is out taking credit for his great economy. Good job, Barak!/s
Yet the beggars still man many street corners in my city.
..... Looks like the U.S. is now at full employment levels and has been for a while.
Just go to indeed or any job site, and most of the "openings" are more than a month old.
Fake news.
Help Wanted signs all over Tucson. Mostly construction but plenty of other opportunities too. I’ve been retired for two plus decades and still get offers almost every week for work in related fields. Want to work? Its out there.
Just another bogus piece pushing the immigration agenda. Meanwhile wage increases are barely keeping up with inflation at 3%. So there is no labor shortage at all.
Clearly this is the happy result of President Obama’s economic policies! /s
You are mistaken or trolling. There are plenty of third worlders willing to to work for low wages. The people already working are not seeing an increase to a living wage because big business only concerned with profit.
Most people increase their wages by moving up to a better job, not by getting a raise from their cheapskate company.
It’s only when they can’t get anybody that they might consider paying more.
If we keep cheap labor out, wages will go up.
It has too.
They are coming in bigtime. They are not all yardmen and roofers either.
Wrong, but thanks for playing.
Under Trump wages have begun to rise. It has been some time since that took place, but in a Capitalist system things can go to one extreme for a period of time.
We had an over abundance of labor. Now that business is booming again, that is reversing. Now wages are beginning to rise.
We can thank the Bush and Obama administrations for screwing the workers into the dirt. Bush allowed the economy to implode. Obama did very little to better the situation for about the first five of his eight years.
Trump has sparked economic activity, and that’s changing the game.
Well I disbelieve statistics on the issue and everyone I talk to (lots) says min wage workers up, but not up for them.
