A decision about whether to prosecute Mr. Craig, who was White House counsel for President Barack Obama during his first year in office, is expected in the coming weeks, people familiar with the case said. The investigation centers on whether Mr. Craig should have disclosed work he did in 2012 while he was a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom on behalf of the Russia-aligned government of Viktor F. Yanukovych, then the president of Ukraine.
The work was steered to Mr. Craig by Paul Manafort, who was then a political consultant collecting millions of dollars from clients in former Soviet states.
The issue started getting renewed scrutiny from the Justice Department in 2017 as Mr. Muellers team traced the flow of overseas cash to fund Mr. Manaforts lobbying efforts. The special counsel had subpoenaed or requested documents from Skadden Arps and two lobbying firms recruited by Mr. Manaforts team to help build support for Mr. Yanukovychs government, and Mr. Muellers investigators had interviewed people who worked with all three firms, including Mr. Craig. But last year, Mr. Muellers team referred the matters related to the three firms to federal prosecutors in Manhattan for potential prosecution as FARA violations.
According to people familiar with the case, Manhattan prosecutors have retained control of the investigations of the two lobbying firms. They are Mercury Public Affairs, whose lead partner on the account was Vin Weber, a former Republican member of Congress, and the Podesta Group, led by Tony Podesta, a prominent Democratic fund-raiser whose business collapsed in 2017 under the glare of Mr. Muellers scrutiny.

Interesting retrospective from back when Greg Craig was fired one year into the Obama Admin and replaced by Bob Bauer.

Ping to Obama’s first year White House Counsel, Greg Craig, about to get nailed, it seems.
He may have been unwilling or unable to defend Obama when he found out what Obama was really about and needed to be replaced by the Obama team at the end of the first year. Then he got tied up with Manafort in the Ukraine.
Let’s see how the Democrats, via the FBI, cover up for Podesta, again. Podesta, DNC, Hillary, Soros.
I’d also like to know if there is an investigation into Podesta re the Jeffrey Epstein reported “children’s flights” to his Retreat in Florida and a reported one in Spain.
Too many Democrats might be ducking for cover or committing suicide if even half the reports of their connections to Podesta are true. They’ll be nailed if there is an honest investigation, but with Mueller and his team of political hacks, I think the operative term is “cover up”.
Remember how Menendez and Charlie Rangel got away with their shenanigans? They’re Democrats, you know.
Thanks Seizethecarp. And g'night, all, this time for sure.

Check out article and comments.
Thanks, Seizethecarp.
Podesta was in on dealing with Russiist ukrainians just as Manafort was...
“Manhattan prosecutors have retained control of the investigations of the two lobbying firms...”
That’s the last you’ll hear about it.y
Remember in early 2016 when Hillary went to Obama and appealed to him to “call off the dogs” over her home-brew server and pay to play sale of favors?
If she was prosecuted, she promised to take down half of Washington DC with her.
She meant not just democrats, but plenty of Republicans as well.
THIS is why Congress and the DOJ don’t act. The criminality and Coup against PDJT cuts wide swaths across both parties.
It seems to okay when 0bungos administration was caught doing anything from running guns to the Mexicans to covering up Hillarious’ criminal activities
unsuccessful Team Hillary plant. Oh they had lots more. She never forgets, despite claims during testimony.
In a just world, Craig would be getting a 5 AM visit from a SWAT team. In reality, he’s a Democrat toady, so he’ll get off Scott free.
“But more mysterious than Craig’s exit was the announced move eight days ago by Craig’s deputy, Cassandra Butts, a Harvard classmate of Obama’s and one of the administration’s highest-ranking African Americans.”
Butts is dead!

On February 7, 2014, Butts was nominated by President Obama to be United States Ambassador to the Bahamas.
Butts told New York Times columnist Frank Bruni that she had visited Cotton about his objections to her nomination, and Cotton told her that because he knew that Obama and Butts were friends, blocking Butts was a way to “inflict special pain on the president,” Bruni wrote.
Butts died on May 26, 2016, still awaiting a Senate vote.[14] For several weeks after Butts’ death, her nomination had remained pending before the U.S. Senate on its executive calendar. Obama formally withdrew her nomination on June 9, 2016.
Butts was found dead in her Washington, D.C. home by her sister on May 25, 2016. According to a statement from her family she had suffered from a brief illness.[17] Bruni wrote that she had suffered from acute leukemia and had not felt ill until just beforehand.
From the Craig departure article in 2009:
But more mysterious than Craigs exit was the announced move eight days ago by Craigs deputy, Cassandra Butts, a Harvard classmate of Obamas and one of the administrations highest-ranking African Americans.
Butts died in 2016 in unfortunate, but interesting circumstances!

Were the Podesta brothers given immunity from prosecution in return for their testimony against former employee, Paul Manafort? Didn’t Manafort work for Podesta during Uranium One?
Off the top of my head, No and No...
None of that happened in his case.
