LINCOLN, Neb. -- NEMA said that the current public impact of flooding in Nebraska is $205,494,325 and the private impact is $59,745,590.

There are also three known fatalities, according to the agency. One being the farmer who was killed trying to help someone, another from someone who was carried away after they drove into high water, an 80-year-old woman who couldn't be rescued and another person is missing from the Spencer Dam.

The agency said there has also been a $400 million impact to livestock. This does not account for future losses because of delayed or canceled planting.

FEMA individual assistance will be available to residents of Nebraska for the second time in state history. The first was in 2011.

A total of 65 counties and 74 cities have issued emergency declarations.

The state will also submit an expedited request for a federal disaster declaration from President Donald Tump.

Even though this is where real people live and much of our food source comes from, not many 5 star hotels are located around there so, you may not see many national reporters on this one.

This is likely the worst disaster to ever hit our state and nobody outside of Nebraska gives a flying f***. If this was happening to one of the big leftist infested metropolitan sh*t holes, there would be tears and TV telethons with movie stars calling for an outpouring of support. For flyover country: crickets.

Oh well. It is refreshing and liberating to know that, as far as being a part of this country, we don’t really matter and are not even an afterthought. If the socialists succeed in getting rid of the electoral college, we won’t even have a say in choosing our political leadership.

At least we don’t have to worry about the blue state commies wanting to escape here after they destroy their own nests. FYI, There is no scenery and the weather here sucks. Just remember where your food comes from next time you head to the fridge.

Sorry about the rant. This is not directed to my beloved FReepers, just to the rest of the country.

You are right to be upset. I live in Oklahoma and have understood for a long time that if a large national disaster ever struck the U.S., the central part of the country would not see any relief from D.C. for a long time. Hopefully, those states by themselves could make it on their own.
