Interesting that leftists don’t talk about the urban centers within states that ultimately give all of that state’s Electoral College votes to the Democrat.

Uh, juhmele, see this: Tweets by ‎@NewsBusterPicks NewsBuster Picks Retweeted Brent Baker @BrentHBaker Rare moment in news media for commonly misconstrued element in Constitution. On @MSNBC, @NoahCRothman recognized “3/5ths compromise” not racist or pro-slavery but actually pro-abolitionist. It was “designed to disempower slave states” in electoral college.

Which indicates to me that Jemele Hill is a flaming idiot who has no clue what the electoral college does. All the boy wants to do is throw the race card. I’d like to shove it up... The electoral college has nothing to do with “slavery”. Now on the other hand, his beloved socialism is a first step towards slavery. Wake up Jemele. It’s time to grow up and learn something.

On Monday, Hill reacted to a tweet by Andrew Yang, a Democratic presidential candidate who defended the Electoral College. Showing he gets why America's Founding Fathers established the Electoral College, Yang tweeted:

Yang is a smart guy. Totally out of place in the Democrat party. Don't agree with his universal income plan, but he has a lot of good ideas.

If your goal is to destroy America via Civil War II, do away with the electoral college.

Nothing holds a candle to the Democrat Slave Plantation of our time.

As Dinesh D’Souza has articulated, urban housing projects run by our nation’s democrats meet all the formal criteria for the conditions one would expect to find on slave plantations.

Listen dumb@ss. You got a problem with the constitution? There are means available IN THE CONSTITUTION to correct what you feel is wrong.

So put in an amendment, or call a constitutional convention but you can’t just change it by your ‘feelings’

Just for laughs I’d love for those states who decided to make a law saying whomever wins the national Presidential popular vote that their state’s electors most vote for that person. If they have to vote for Trump by law in their state…they are going to $h!t themselves.

Then that must mean that The One is also complicit in something like this as he won majorities in the Electoral College as well.

The Democrats’ definition of racism has become “anything we don’t like, especially anything to do with DJT “. Reason, if they ever possessed it, has abandoned them.

Since joining the progressive staff at The Atlantic last fall, Hill has written almost exclusively about race or herself.

A one trick pony.

Whatever they are paying her it is too much.

1. During the early years of the Republic, the main political parties obfuscated their differences on slavery and the tariff (along obfuscating other ideas, e.g., on banking) so as to appeal both to northern (free) states, and southern (slave) states.

2. By the 1850s, there was no longer any way to avoid the issue of slavery. The Republicans didn’t even try to appeal to Southerners. They had to win all or almost all northern states. During this time, the Electoral College proved a friend of ending slavery (at least in the territories) (and also a friend of the tariff).

3. Following the Reconstruction period, the Democrats had a absolute lock on the South. In some Southern states, the Republican candidate wasn’t even on the ballot. So, the Democrats rolled up big popular vote victories in that region and several occasions won the popular vote while losing in the Electoral College. This was a second time that the Electoral College was a friend of the Democrats and an enemy of equality.

4. During the late 20th Century, things changed yet again. The Democrats shifted from representing the working class outside the South and segregation in the South, to representing progressive socialism, the post-modern agenda, atheism and nihilism, PLUS minorities, and the Republicans shifted to representing traditional and rural values. The swing region of the country shifted to the suburbs of the country. And, the swing voter shifted to upwardly-mobile children and grand children of immigrants.

At this time, it’s not clear who the Electoral College favors. In 2000, when Bush won, Gore had a small lead in the popular vote. In 2004, when Bush was re-elected, Bush had a smaller lead in the crucial state of Ohio than he had nationwide, so he was re-elected in spite of a disadvantage in the Electoral College.

In 2008, the election wasn’t close, and it’s useless to say which candidate if either the EV favored relative to the popular vote.

In 2012, the election was close, and the votes in the crucial states of FL, OH and VA were equal or closer than the national margin. You can say that the Electoral College and the Popular vote would have given the same result.

In 2016, the election was clearly a split decision. Clinton won the popular vote (meaning, finished first) (but with only 46 percent) and Trump won the Electoral College. If we had a run-off system (as many large democratic countries that directly-elect their President have, including Brazil, Russia and France) it’s not clear Clinton would have won a run-off. Republicans won the nationwide popular vote for Congress (49 to 48 percent).

IN ANY CASE ... by 2016 several factors combine to make the nationwide popular vote less than indicative of national voter sentiment. Washington and California adopted “top two” primaries, leaving lower-ticket candidates of the Democratic Party in many districts. Keeping Republicans off the ballot is their way to suppress the Republican vote. Of course, the media never talks about this. Suppressing the Republican vote is as good today was it was in the days of Jim Crow.

We get this malarkey about the popular vote every time the Democrats lose. Hopefully, we’ll continue to hear it after the 2020 election. Also, the continuing malarkey about Russia collusion, working-class married white women, talk radio and freedom of speech in general, racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, SUVs, hamburgers, plastic straws and Happy Meal toys.

The stupid ....it burns ....

Lincoln, in 1860, won the presidency by virtue of the electoral college. He had LESS THAN 40% of the popular vote!!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1860_United_States_presidential_election

The Dem leadership knows that...just as slavery was ended by the electoral college in 1860, they KNOW they can’t implement their socio-communist agenda wiht the electoral college intact.

Hope Tucker Carlson or someone can run with this
