Opinion: Democrats bear some blame for the Trump-Kim summit collapse
The Guardian UK ^ | 20 Mar 2019 | Richard Beck

... Initial reports suggest there is lots of blame to go around, from Trump’s overestimation of his own abilities as a dealmaker, to Kim’s possibly unrealistic expectations as to how little the US would be willing to accept, to the uncompromising hawkishness of the national security adviser, John Bolton, who may have intentionally sabotaged negotiations by throwing extra demands into the mix at the last minute.

Some of this blame, however, belongs to Democratic politicians and liberal commentators, who have reliably denigrated Trump’s Korean outreach from the beginning, and did everything they could to diminish the Hanoi summit’s chances for success. Trump...has allowed Kim and the South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, to jump-start a process that now offers the best chance for peace on the Korean peninsula in many decades. It is a genuinely historic opportunity, and for liberals to undermine it because they can’t stomach the idea of Trump receiving a Nobel peace prize is shameful.

The problem starts at the top, with the Democratic House speaker, Nancy Pelosi. Two weeks ahead of the summit, Pelosi chastised a group of South Korean lawmakers who were visiting Washington to seek US support for the peace process...Menendez urged Pompeo to keep both North and South Korea in line, a strange request considering that one of those countries is a crucial regional ally, while the other is still technically a wartime enemy.

Liberal commentators have followed suit, from newspaper columnists all the way down to Twitter users with “#Resist” in their profile bios...The most Democrats have offered the peace process so far is hysterical rhetoric about North Korean leadership that has been stale for upwards of 25 years...

The Democrats worked overtime to make President Trump look weak. In Asian culture, weak doesn't make for a good sales pitch.

It's so odd that the Democrats would sell out American peace and security over petty hatred of the man who beat their girl. Wouldn't peace with NK benefit everyone?

I was gonna say the opposite: Democrats would rather have North Korea nuke us rather than letting President Trump succeed.

Although come to think of it, the Neocon warmongering Republicans would probably rather nuke North Korea (or pretty much anywhere rather than letting Trump succeed at making peace.

And the Neo-Commie Alt-Right PaleoCons would rather surrender the entire Korean Peninsula, rather than stand for principle and fight against this tyrant head on.
Kim Jong UN, does not want to give up his nukes at all they’re his ace in the hole in bringing about forced Korean unification with him as the Emperor

The Dems will kill as many as necessary to regain power. A few million dead is nothing in their insatiable hunger for power at any cost.

Kim had nothing to lose to try. Trump probably was going to walk no matter what. Negotiations are a dance.

The problem starts at the top, with the Democratic House speaker, Nancy Pelosi.

It was obvious that Nancy Pelosi was attempting to damage Trump-Kim Summit. It is alarming to know that the Democrats are anti-American. I do not know what country they think they are representing.

Democrats support infanticide, illegal aliens, atheism; all things valued by the forgotten men and women of America, who are second in line. Do they hate Trump so much that they do not care about their constituents?

The Democrats do not care about the damage being done to Americans by uncontrolled borders. One murder to one too many! We have thousands of crimes, including murder, being committed by illegal aliens. The Democrats simply do not care. The behavior of the Democrats is no different than the behavior of the communists in connection with the Soviet Communist caused famines in Russia and the Ukraine. They still will not admit their guilt.

It is alarming!

If these talks really are ended, the norks are in deep doo-doo.

President Trump will inform both the russian and chinese, that all tanker to tanker oil transfers will stop or we will sink the tankers.

That is just for starters. They really don't want to test Trump's resolve.

I would argue that the problem lies squarely with Kim and his counsel.

They attempted the tried and true gambit and it failed. There is sort of a misconception about negotiations. Trump made demands rather than offer choices. Kim chose not to comply.

End of the story

A policy of "Maximum Pressure", (tough sanctions) which HAD been working brilliantly up until matters were relaxed significantly and incrementally since Moon's visit with Kim, then Kim with DJT in Singapore, Moon's kowtow ropesucking visit to Pyongyang, and then spiraling downward from there. We are readjusting the strategy at this point THANK GOD, and never too late, but granted some critical time and momentum has been lost -- as Kim was really on the ropes-- but I am sure Mr. President has learned a few more things about his "new friend" whom he "fell in love with", and from whom he receives "beautiful, beautiful letters." . (Don't throw rocks at me folks, I am not making this craaazy talk up, HIS words, not mine.)

The Democrats are a discrase to this Nation.they had to bring the liar Cohen to testify in front of Congress for the sole purpose of causing our President to look weak in his summit with Kim Jung Un our President has to build personal relationships with bad people to try to get the deal he wants I don’t always agree with some of the praise he gives these despos but at the same time I understand why he does it one rule to judge Trump by is judge him on what he does not what he says.Hes working for us and don’t give a damn about the political correct crowd that are always trying to sandbag any and all things Trump..
