The EU agrees to delay Brexit until May 22 if MPs back Theresa May's deal

The European Union has agreed to give the United Kingdom a short delay to Brexit — but only if Members of Parliament vote for Theresa May's deal next week.

Leaders of the 27 other EU member states said on Thursday that they were prepared to extend the Article 50 withdrawal process until May 22, to give the UK time to prepare for its departure, according to draft conclusions obtained by several news organisation.

The date coincides with the start of the European Parliament elections. However, the offer falls some way short of the three month extension ending on June 30 which the prime minister had asked for.

All Parliament has to do is reject May’s surrender document again.

Then 8 days from now it’s no deal and no extension......ie hard Brexit.

They should have gotten to that point at least a year ago.

Of course they do. The globalism purposed Eu will be burnt if Brexit goes through. The citizens of the UK need to stand up now or go down with a whimper.

Maybe when President Barron Trump is in office, someone can finally straighten out the EU, LOL! ;)

Why is there even a negotiation for the EU to be a party to?

Just because it’s threatening to retaliate if not appeased?

Have the Germans changed at all in three generations?

This is a put-down by the EU. If the Brits give in to this they will forever be EU slaves.

Brexit means brexit. Donald Trump will be there with a trade deal—UK won’t be out in the cold, the EU will. Merkel & Putin can have a ball.

Brits only choice is between leaving on terms they don’t want or staying in an EU they hate.

It's almost as if they had been sold a bill of goods by the Brexiteers.

Sure, we'll just leave the EU and all of our commitments behind but be free to dictate our terms and keep all the benefits.

I'd have voted for that proposition too.

No, the deal was jointly agreed. The UK could have said no deal. Instead the uk is asking for an extension to the timetable the uk set

And the EU is correctly asking what’s the point of the extension. Theresa May set this date two years ago. If she hasn’t dine anything yet, what more will two months do?

This isn’t an ultimatum. The UK, Theresa May two years ago herself set the date of 29th March 2019. Now she is asking for an extension to the date she set. So the EU is rightly saying “why? What good will it do? Either vote no or take the no deal option”

The Brits have three choices: Mays deal, no deal or no Brexit. They need to choose instead of prevaricating

Why is there a negotiation??????

The UK asked for a divorce in 2017 and set a date of 29th March 2019

After twi years the UK still hasn’t decided what it wants to do so it is begging the EU to change the date the UK set.

The EU naturally says “ok, but what’s the point of a delay. Make up your mind, stay or go”

This is not just “the Germans” and more importantly this is the British doinh

How is it a put down? The UK is asking for a delay. The UK can still go for no deal Brexit

Oh and the USA isn’t standing with a trade deal for the UK. Many American agricultural products don’t satisfy British rules or public perceptions. That would scupper any trade deal as the UK will continue to ban American poultry

She’s trying to delay to the point where the Leave campaign gives up.
