US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo suggested that the US may be forced to downgrade its intelligence cooperation with Israel over the Jewish State's growing ties with China.
Pompeo was asked about the the Israel-China ties, a rare sore spot in US-Israel relations under the Trump Administration, during an interview with Barak Ravid on Channel 13 News.
"China broadly presents a real opportunity," he acknowledged. "Theyre an economic powerhouse and there are lots of opportunities that countries have to do business with China. When China behaves transparently, when China is engaged in real economic transactions, we are untroubled. When China behaves using debt as a trap, when China bribes, when China engages in spying through its commercial state-owned enterprises, and presents risk through its technology systems companies like Huawei which present real risk to the people of Israel when those things happen, we want to make sure that countries know about it, know the risks, and then countries will make their own sovereign decisions. Well have to do the same."
"I want to make sure that every country is wide-eyed and awake with respect to the threats that are posed by China and then make sure they understand as well America will have to make decisions too. If certain systems go in certain places, then Americas efforts to work alongside you will be more difficult, and in some cases, we wont be able to do so.
When asked if intelligence cooperation could be adversely affected, Pompeo replied: "Intelligence sharing might have to be reduced, co-location of security facilities might have to be reduced. We want to make sure that countries understand this and know these risks."
Pompeo presented a brighter picture of the US-Israel relationship during the rest of the interview, including his visit to the Western...

It really has to be like crossing an ice cold, fast flowing river. You have to very carefully transfer your weight from one piece of ice to the next, working your way diagonally upstream as the old ice slips away down stream. Politics must be a game of incredible timing.
Oh come on , our US / China trade deficit is a million times
bigger than total China and Israel trade.
Our politicians including Elaine McConnell have family dealings with China worth tens of millions.
We can’t complain about Israeli giving secrets to China while they send Chinese engineers to Silicon valley to work
who are Chinese spies, and we volunteer to let China steal our intellectual property.
Clinton via Loral gave China the ability to MERV their missiles.
Lets cut our leaks and technology transfers and then worry
about little Israeli much much smaller trade exposure.
Not that their exposure isn’t bad, ours is seriously worse.
Maybe, America can do both...
I AGREE, AND DO BOTH WE MUST.
..................
I don’t think Israel is that stupid.
Let’s say you’re an American who understands Israel is our best ally in the M.E. but you’re a patriot who doesn’t want American pilots shot down with American tech..?
Is that guy a NAZI..?
Because there ARE people who will leap at you with that.
F-16 —> Lavi —> Chinese J-10
Pompeo, being a good civil servant and no swampy, is trying to plug all leaks, and it’s entirely fair to warn Israel to cut out whatever they’re doing, even if inadvertent, if it exposes American technology to Chi-coms. I can and do totally respect that, and expect my government (Israel) to deal with it. Whatever short-range benefits they might get by spilling American beans, it’s totally not worth it. China will sell us out for a stale egg roll.
Did somebody call you a Nazi in this thread? From where is this coming?
No, and thank you.
I bring that up because it has happened before and somehow pre-emptively doling it out myself to myself lessens the blow.
I mean, you look at the violence, fatalism and modernity-hating in the Arab world, and this makes it almost impossible not to favor Israel.
But then you get reports like this, and it really gives a geniune patriot pause.
The problem at the core of the thread centers not only on high-end aircraft but also on ground vehicles, airborne radar, and even missiles:

With regard to all of that, I refer you to my #10 of this thread. anti-Semites hide behind their criticism of Israel to avoid scrutiny of their agenda. Mike Pompeo is none of that, but a true friend and a patriot, and if he has a problem with some of Israel’s dealings with China, we’re all ears and taking notes.
When African countries, Panama or the USA fall for China’$ port deal/scams, I’m disappointed and alarmed, but not terribly surprised.
But when ISRAEL did, with the Haifa port deal..?
I was pretty shocked:
Less shocked by the USA falling for it? Israelis are not necessarily more smart or more ethically pure than Americans, and China is an old hand at stealing intellectual property. Whoever did it, it has to stop, and Israel ought to cheerfully comply with Pompeo’s strictures, whatever they are, in future dealings with China.
I don’t believe they’re stealing US secrets in Israeli food conglomerates’ dealings with the Middle Kingdom. Strauss, Tnuva and friends do not deal in military technology, but in homogenized dairy products.

More than one bird with that stone. Thanks Eleutheria5.
