Hagley Park in the middle of CHCH...
Let me fill you in on the history of this area...
In December 1850 4 ships arrived in Lyttleton, NZ from England...Lyttleton is the port for Christchurch...
These ships, the George Seymour, the Charlotte Jane, the Randolph and the Cressy were the first of 16 ships sent out by the Church of England to populate what became the province of Canterbury...they were the “Canterbury Pilgrims” and those 4 ships were The First Four Ships also the Summer Ships...
My 3rd great grandparents and my 8 yo 2nd great grandmother and siblings were steerage passengers on the Cressy...
To be chosen to participate in this venture, the family had to be of good character, good workers, recommended by their Anglican minister, and faithful Christian members of the Church of England...every one of them...
When the new settlers arrived in that first incorporated NZ city of Christchurch in the province of Canterbury, they stayed in makeshift huts on the cleared land of Hagley Park...
Since that time Hagley Park has been known historically as the first temp home for those first settlers ...all Christians..
and now...this...
My stomach is churning...
and my CHCH born Christian Dad who loved the city and its history is turning over in his grave...

The church document of that time called The Canterbury Compact even mentions the Mayflower...and what the church planned to do differently to avoid all those deaths...

I wanted to comment on their turn in program, so clicked on the “Hand in firearms inquiry form” and got the message:
“At this point the ability to submit forms from overseas is not enabled. We are working on a method for you to communicate to us to hand in your firearms.”
I just bet they are...Was going to remind them not to come looking to the gun owners of the USA for “loaners” if they are ever at risk of being invaded (like the Brits did in WWII)...But apparently no worries ‘cause I see they’re already in the process of handing over their country...

After some consideration, it sort of sounds like the ideal place for obxxx and family to retire to.
