Based on personal experience, I don’t buy the basic premise of the article. I am the son of an immigrant and a first generation American and yield to none in my regard for our country, it’s history and its Constitution.

Based on personal experience

We've let enough in. We need a few decades to heal. This our country and we get to have borders.

As were my dad and my uncles. But Grandpa, from Denmark, didn’t marry a nice Danish girl, but a girl of Bohemian background, so the four boys ended up American. Grandpa also didn’t choose to live in a ‘Little Denmark’ where he’d be comfortable with Danish friends, but ended up working for the Union Pacific, which expected him to do his job in English. My grandpa and likely your mom or dad were a part of the much-derided melting pot rather than much more sophisticated ‘salad bowl’ philosophy of immigration.

I don’t understand why people insist on changing something that has been overwhelmingly successful and try to replace it with something that seems to inevitably lead to failure. (I have dealt with this same trend in education for years.)
