What fraction of the afflicted had actually been vaccinated, e.g. with the MMR vaccine?

Close the border is right. And don’t let people into your country, or mine, until they’re cleared of having disease.

Closing the school = utilizing walls.

And they STILL say walls are useless.

Do they actually mean discontinuing classes. Will they close all dorms and food service facilities. If so, where will the students go that have no homes in this country to go to.

If they close the school it will be a defacto admission that walls work? They will be demanding that students stay within the walls where they live. Karma can be such a bitch at times.

The chances that all are “anti-vax crazies” are very slim.

What will you do if wet find out they were vaccinated? If someone is vaccinated, why should they care?

If they are talking about a quarantine, should wet question how good these vaccines are?

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

They’re not anti vaccine people. No one is allowed, no American citizen that is, is allowed into a regulated preschool, let alone a highly reputable un university without bing vaccinated

I hate vaccines but everyone in my house has all necessary vaccines includeing anthrax because we do t live under a rock

Foreigners especially illegal ones have a whole different set of
Rules and regulations.

I’ve never had mumps, even though I was exposed to it, but my son got them when we were in Germany. He was six. Poor baby was dehydrated, but survived the mumps. I don’t want the mumps, so I won’t be going to Temple U.

Anthrax?

Is that typically a “necessary vaccine?”

Infectious Disease ping - Mumps (viral infection) - Pennsylvania

Number of Temple University mumps cases grows to 74, prompting petition to close school.
Officials say 15 cases have been confirmed through laboratory testing
while 59 other patients are listed as likely cases based on their symptoms.
Health officials recommend students who may be infected limit contact with others for at least five days and seek medical care.

Of note, the outbreak coincides with the customary academic "Spring Break " holiday
which could spread the viral infection, elsewhere.

https://www.mdedge.com/ccjm/clinical-edge/summary/vaccines/mumps-outbreaks-vaccinated-us-populations

These populations are highly vaccinated.

Vaccines are not Santa Claus or Gd. They are made without many updates in science because the manufacturers are not responsible for quality or liability so no motivation to improve them.

And they don’t last forever. Most people actually think that a shot they got 15 years earlier or more will protect them from whatever for life. Not true.

Mine too. I isn’t read the article for clarification as to who was affected because it is sure to be a cover up and a propaganda piece slamming anti vaccine people

Don’t anyone kid yourselves. No university student who is a US citizen is allowed to register for classes fro preschool to grade school and to high school without being vaccinated against mumps.

No way in any scenario. The anti vaccine people have not taken over

Forget that scenario

These are foreigners, who should be not even allowed into our country and are in fact not allowed by law without being vaccinated, infecting other non vaccinated foreigners

My guess

The mumps vaccine only has an 88% uptake rate and a booster is recommended for college kids but not required at Temple U.

I had all my kids boostered before leaving for college as well as the meningitis vaccine (neighbor’s daughter made paraplegic her freshman year), tetanus and pertussis and the Hep A and B. Two of them were heading into nursing so have to have all that stuff anyway.

I had the HPV done on them at age 12. The youngest was always wart prone and it cleared them up to. Found out later that this is not uncommon.

Doesn’t mumps make you sterile? So what’s the problem?

I had the mumps when I was in grade school. I have two children. Mumps did not make me sterile.
