“Valerie Jarrett: We ended up in Iran because my father, who is African American, was unable to find a job at a teaching medical center in the United States in the 1950s. So he and my mom moved to Iran.”
The real reason:
Her father, a pathologist and geneticist, ran a hospital for children in Shiraz in 1956 as part of a program where American physicians and agricultural experts sought to help in the health and farming efforts of developing countries.
Her parents are both of European and African-American descent. On the television series Finding Your Roots, DNA testing indicated that Jarrett is of 49% European, 46% African, and 5% Native American descent.
Like Hillary and Obama, she reinvents her personal history.
After the Iranian Coup d’etat in 1954, placing the Shah in control, I wonder what affiliation her father had with either the CIA or the Communists.
