A gun shop owner sold the shooter four firearms after the Australian got the required New Zealand license. The one shown in the video came from an unknown source.
Rumor making the rounds is that the shooter was not “vetted” properly for his license...either he was not interviewed in-person, like the police are supposed to do, or the two references that he supplied were just names picked off the internet, and were themselves never interviewed.
