The Mueller Investigation handed them the House and kept the GOP from gaining another five Senate Seats.

The damage is done. Hopefully the 2020 Election will rectify these wrongs, but I’m not holding my breath.

This is important when considering two other things:

Out of 25 special elections so far, Rs have flipped 6. No R seats have flipped blue.

Tom Udall in NM announced he won’t run again, citing family and environmental activism (right). A Cong. in NY (committee chairman) is not running again due to “illness.” Maybe.

But while a little less pronounced, these are the EXACT same trends we saw early in 2017 that were the harbinger of a big D house victory. Suddenly the shoe is on the other foot.

Not too many Senate opportunities for the GOP in the 2020 cycle. Only Alabama (fluke Dem win), Michigan (Black GOPer John James is nearly tied with the freshman Dem incumbent Peters in a recent poll) and New Hampshire (Shaheen stands a good chance to lose against Gov. Chris Sununu) are the best chances for pickups. This presumes no losses, and the GOP is endangered in AZ (McSally, who lost last year), CO (Gardner) and potentially NC (with the flaky Tillis).

Which is exactly why the impact of the BOGUS Russia Investigation not only affected the 2018 Midterms but could impact the GOP Senate Majority in 2020.

“...GOP 46.7 - Dem 42.8...”

Still way too close.

The dems need to be crushed.

I don’t expect the GOP to lose the Senate majority in 2020. Depending upon recruitment for House races and $$ support, I’d give them an even shot to win back the House, but like 2018, the Demonrats will cheat like hell (for example, they’ve almost maxed out on stealing every seat in California’s 53-member delegation, with the GOP once holding 26 seats going into 1996, now at 7(!) 22 years hence. The GOP has not defeated a Dem House incumbent in the state since 1994. When you consider how many hundreds of races that have occurred since, it is a numerical/statistical improbability).

It didn’t help that 45 GOP House incumbents decided not to seek re-election in 2018.

The power of the incumbency is strong....a great many of these 45 would have been re-elected.

The silver lining is this....most of these GOP incumbents were RINOS.

The fake witch Hunt is what cost republicans the house in 2018.

Ryan and co didn’t help either.

Oh, Bush was a lot better than Al Gore. I don’t regret my vote at all and will take W over Gore every single time.

I write this with all sincerity. I loathe people like you who in hindsight equate Bush with all the evils of Gore/democrats. It does not come close to reality, but just shows an immature bitterness. Cheap shots with cheap sound bites.

And since you are lazy and anti-intellectual enough to believe there is no difference, I really do hope you experience the US in full democrat/Gore/socialist mode since that is the only way for you to understand the difference.

Your ignorant vapidness, which you seem so proud of is shameful

Maybe, but neither are those tremendous numbers of “silent” Trump supporters.

Be careful with this poll (and all polls). This is how the respondents reported their votes in the 2016 election, so even allowing for illegal votes, there is at least a 5 point deficit there, and probably 6.
DONALD TRUMP 44.1
HILLARY CLINTON 39.2

It is possible there has been some movement among those who voted for Hillary or Johnson) back to sanity now that it is apparent President Trump is succeeding with the economy and the Democrats are socialists.
