The Chicago police dedicated 2 detectives and spent tens of thousands of dollars on the Smollett case.
There is a chance that Smollett will still be charged with federal crimes over the despicable stunt. Now the Smollett legal team are weighing charges against the Chicago Police Department for their pursuit of the liberal Hollywood actor.

The police should take it on - they’d have to present the evidence they had to make the charges.
The lawyer is bluffing and pontificating - because the DA is already in their pocket and won’t let the police defend the case.
