Disney has a history of this. Back in 07,08 my daughter had an internship at ABC News. She did research, wrote question scripts forthe Saturday GMA and reviewed tech for the website. At the end ofbher semester her boss offered her a three day a week paid internship. She did well and the boss told her on graduation she had a job with the unit. She goes to Italy for two weeks with her art class, comes back to discover Disney has laid off her entire 21 person unit. She spends the last month of her internshop writing resumes for the staff who have been on the job so long they have no clue how to write a modern acceptable resume. Stuff happens but Disney did this. I had no surprise when I read about the Fox people.

Hey, “Learn to Code”, Hollywierdos.

It's fun to carp at Hollywood, but most of the jobs she is talking about are for people who are cameramen, film and script editors, electricians, graphic artists, carpenters -- all kinds of peripheral technical people who are not online shooting their mouths off about politics. The same thing happened earlier to the print industry when computers entered the scene, knocking out typesetters, engravers, cameramen, paper and film layout people, platemakers, paper salesmen, inkers and pressmen, etc. The digital age wiped them out. I'm not talking printing for the newspaper industry, but for the the two-color and full color brochures that used to be the vehicles for companies to communicate what they had to offer. Now it's all done by computers.
