Maria Butina, the Russian national who pleaded guilty to working as a spy in an attempt to infiltrate the NRA, will be sentenced for the crime on April 26, a US District Court judge said Thursday.

Butina, 30, pleaded guilty in December to one count of conspiring to work as a foreign agent for Russia and has remained in federal custody since her arrest in July 2018.

The Siberian native admitted to attempting to infiltrate the NRA in an effort to create unofficial lines of communication between conservative US politicians and Moscow.

The NRA colluding with the Russians. This should be good for another two year investigation.

She needs to be pardoned and allowed to go home. She’s just another victim of the Democrat paranoid delusion over Russia.

“Spy” lol. She made the mistake of being 25, thinking the second amendment was awesome, and wanting Russia to expand gun rights.

This is more FBI Bullshit trying to “prove” that the NRA is under the control of Russia. And since the NRA supported Trump and pretty much is chock full of repubs... You get the point.

DC was over 90% for Hillary. This is more of the coup.

Maybe there should be an investigation.

I'm wondering if Christopher Steele secured the invitation for her, and John McCain hired a security cleared courier and aircraft to deliver it to her?

Maria gets a body cavity search after each visit from her attorney. This is the kind of BS we are told happens in 3rd world hell holes.

With Liberty and Justice for All? Sickening.

Yeauh, exactly how does joining the NRA constitute spying? It’s not a government agency.

I think Maria and Anna Chapman should be put in a room, and... see what happens.

Is it really a crime to try to “infiltrate” the NRA, a private organization? How many foreign nationals are currently “infiltrating” campus, lobbying, and business organizations, on behalf of China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, the PLO, HAMAS, and other foreign entities? The figure is probably in the hundreds, or even thousands. Why are they still walking free?

Also despite the dramatic headline, there was no charge of espionage. She was charged with failing to register as an agent of a foreign government. Basically a law regulating lobbying.

More of the childish crap from F-troop

There’s nothing illegal per se about the NRA talking with Russians, unless they are planning something that is illegal. She probably violated some useless registration requirement.

Exactly and perfectly stated.

This is a sham. A "Russian spy" only because the Democrats desperately need one.

Anna Chapman landed a pretty good gig hosting a conspiracy theory/military hardware-themed show on one of Russia's more popular networks.

I’m confused. Did the NRA lodge the complaint? What is the crime in “infiltrating” the NRA?
