President Donald Trump on Friday repeated his threat to close down the border between the United States and Mexico, but this time he noted he would act next week if Mexico doesn't step up.
"If Mexico doesn't immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States throug (sic) our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week," he tweeted.

Shut down remittances to Mexico until the situation is resolved, and they will resolve it faster than you can blink.
He really doesn’t have much choice.
The line in the sand is drawn. With action expected. With deadline. So, by my estimate, 225 hours based on Pacific time for Mexico to stop northbound illegal traffic or President Trump will close the border.
Well then we can leave it open.

While awaiting the deadline, COMPLETE THE PLANNING AND PREPARATION PROCESSES.
AND PREPARE THE ORDERS THAT WILL BE ISSUED. Those actions will leak and let Mexico realize he is serious.

The President is in negotiation mode. This threat to close the border is just a 2x4 up side their head to get their attention.
We have seen this a number of times over the past two years.
With the Mueller report in, and the serious threat of impeachment off the table, the President has more room to maneuver.
The next move is up to Mexico. I don’t know what they will do but I doubt if they will ignore the President.
We need to stop immigration in it’s track for thirty years.

Trumps promises and threats are usually great. His follow through, often less so. Of course he has the GOPee and the big donors against him - along with too many of his own appointees. So his instincts often get vetoed by others. We’ll see what happens this time
