[A PIECE]
Should that be apiece? That would be how I would have put it. Dunno....
The businesses are also paying an insane rate for retail space in an extremely high-traffic captive-audience area with limited store capacity.
...and that space is owned by [drum roll] government.
Lower the rates, and they could pay workers more AND sell croissants for less.
Wait until the new tax goes into effect of Manhattan! Wonder what she will say when she goes to try to find a meal! :)
And, like, when you go up the mountain to the ski runs, like, fries cost 3x more than like the fries cost in town. Like, why? And like, thats not fair! Like, right?
Its not all bad news, though. While the majority of airports use this Street Plus pricing model, 43% require their food and beverage tenants to charge the same prices at the airport as they do landside. The Pacific Northwest seems to be especially good in this regard. At PDX, street prices have been in effect since the mid-80s, making them true pioneers in terms of US airport restaurant pricing. For us, street pricing is the right thing to do, says PDX airport spokesperson Kama Simonds. Travelers are happy, they are eating good meals and purchasing quality products all while paying a fair price.
This underappreciated tribune of the people, grappling the issues of most concern to her constituents in the Bronx. How do we get such people!
Yall are missing the point.
The point is not the price of the food.
The point is why is AOC at the airport ! Should she not be taking the train !
This is a lesson on the importance of a free market economy versus a restricted and planned economy.
There is probably only one business at La Guardia that is allowed to sell croissants. If independent baked good vendors were allowed to compete, the cost of croissants, donuts and danish would come down.
Why only fixed storefront businesses at the airport? Why not carts and kiosks competing with them?
So, you think the minimum wage had NOTHING to do with it?? I suspect it isnt the ONLY reason, but it is certainly PART of the reason.
Democratic Socialist barmaid - sounds like a TV show!
Fly out of Kennedy or Newark you Commie vapid twit.
It says it all about Ass On Call that she frequents places where a French biscuit costs 7 bucks.
I can get a bagel or donut and coffee for 4 bucks at my local coffee house. As can most Americans
I think Bob Kraft, for one, was willing to pay more than $15 for an hour of dedicated human labor. But that's "bad."
There's no pleasing some people.
This dingbat started a publishing business right out of college, and was even invited back to Boston University to give speeches as a “Young Entrepreneur.” I’d be surprised if that company generated even $1 in revenue before she gave it up and went to work as a bartender. I’ve seen kids running lemonade stands who have more business sense than this dope.
