BALTIMORE — A jury has convicted a couple on trial for the killing of a Baltimore bartender.
Marquese Winston was found guilty on second-degree murder and four handgun charges. Tonya Hayes guilty on just two handgun counts.
They faced 22 different charges. The jurors declined to agree to a first-degree murder charge for Winston. They spent nine hours deliberating over three days.
"My client was found guilty of two counts of handgun possession, and that's all I'm going to say at this point out of respect for the family," said Natalie Finegar, Hayes' attorney.
"I think it spoke for itself. We look forward to filing an appeal on behalf of Mr. Winston," said Julie Shapiro, Winston's attorney.

I live between Newark and Jersey City, and as my children reach the age to start working I’m glad none of them work in jobs where they have to interact with anyone walking off the street - its simply too dangerous. My town has a Shop-Rite that serves the Newark “food desert”, and I pity the employees for the grief from the welfare underclass they endure every day. If these supermarkets opened in cities, they’d never fill any positions; $50 per hour isn’t worth dealing with the rabid animals. At least in the supermarkets along the frontiers, many of the customers are normals.
But when this man was murdered he was not at work:
They shot and killed Alex Wroblewski outside a Royal Farms in Locust Point in November 2017.
Wroblewski had just left work when he stopped at the store.
Understood, but the same idea; he was accessible to the mutants. I don’t know the specifics of the area, but I don’t buy gas or stop at stores anywhere near them. It is segregated enough here in NJ that you’re never far from a safe zone.
Know a guy who works in a large well-known chain (I won’t mention it).
Every day she was in the store, a woman went to the food counter for “a free sample”. AND she demanded that the “free sample” (along with a couple of items perhaps) but that particular free sample be cut on the thickest setting possible.
So I said to him, so she’s getting a free lunch while shopping, LOL.
This was not a 2 or 3 time event, this was constant.
So he finally cut it himself and gave her the thinnest cut possible. She complained at him, naturally.
