Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said Sunday that Democrats will "never" see President Trump's tax returns.
"Nor should they. Thats an issue that was already litigated during the election. Voters knew the president could have given his tax returns, they knew that he didnt, and they elected him anyway," Mulvaney said during an appearance on "Fox News Sunday."
He added that Democrats "know they're not going to" get the tax returns.
"They just want attention on the issue because they dont want to talk to us about policy," he said.
Last week, House Democrats formally requested Trump's tax returns, with Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.) asking IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig to turn over six years of Trump's personal and business tax returns.
One of Trump's personal lawyers later urged the IRS not to release the tax returns, arguing that Democrats can't legally request them. Neal made the request under a provision of the federal tax code that states the Treasury secretary "shall furnish" tax returns upon request from the chairmen of Congresss tax committees, provided that the documents associated with a particular taxpayer are viewed in a closed session.
Trump has said repeatedly that he won't release his returns because he is under audit. The IRS says it does not prevent individuals from releasing their personal returns.
Mulvaney added Sunday that Democrats "know what the law is."
"They know one of the fundamental principles of the IRS is to protect the confidentiality of you and me and everybody else who files taxes. They know that. They know the terms under law by which the IRS can give them the documents, but political hit job is not one of those reasons," he said.
I’m still waiting to see Obama’s sealed college records.
Because a good investigative reporter* - even now - would have to ask himself these two questions: Why would a person want to keep his college records secret? What could be so damaging in them?
* But, of course, there are no true investigative reporters left today.
“a provision of the federal tax code that states the Treasury secretary “shall furnish” tax returns upon request from the chairmen of Congresss tax committees, provided that the documents associated with a particular taxpayer are viewed in a closed session”
A provision that is patently un-Constitutional - like the rest of the income tax code.
Would the Revolutionaries have ever tolerated such a thing?
If obama was a Republican quite a few questions would be asked endlessly.
The one I would like to ask is can someone from Indonesia, who came here as a foreign student and using a different name, become president of the USA?
Democrats “know they’re not going to” get the tax returns.
Right. But they will continue to be amusing themselves by abusing themselves until theyre eyes roll up in their heads and they pass out.
And they shouldnt. Obama was allowed to hide his college transcripts without criticism, even though I believe they would have revealed he claimed foreign birth for economic benefits in college.
The differences are glaringly obvious.
> The one I would like to ask is can someone from Indonesia, who came here as a foreign student and using a different name... <
Right now there is no ironclad proof that what you said there is true. But I’m thinking that Obama’s college records would give you that proof. That’s why they are sealed.
USC Title 26:
(f) Disclosure to Committees of Congress
(1) Committee on Ways and Means, Committee on Finance, and Joint Committee on Taxation
Upon written request from the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the Committee on Finance of the Senate, or the chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request, except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.
He did come from Indonesia.
He did have a different name.
He was adopted by an Indonesian.
Is he an American citizen then?
They wouldn’t have tolerated an income tax in the first place.
We don’t need to see them, the fact that Obama wants to hide them tells us all that he was an average-to-lousy student.
Why?
People that do well in school are proud to show off their grades. Obama has always done the opposite ... plus he’s never really said or done anything “intelligent” ... the logical conclusion is obvious
But how can they find a crime if you don’t help?
AND Bill Clinton's medical records and Hillary's thesis on Alinsky...
> the fact that Obama wants to hide them tells us all that he was an average-to-lousy student <
Maybe. But I’m thinking that in the “Place of Birth” space Obama did not write “Hawaii”.
Mnuchin must make sure the IRS is sealed up. Any Obama holdover could potentially release these records.
Showing tax returns is stupid. Its just for the press. Candidates should not show them at all.
USC Title 26 does not supersede the 4th Amendment.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
What probable cause can they produce? Oversight by Congress is not probable cause.
And we’re still waiting for john kerry’s military record (I forget the form number) that he promised - how long ago?
Hell no. He is a communist, halfrican, mooselimb, fag, prick.
