House Democrats Pursue a Reckless Spending Deal, Not a Budget

Democrats are trying to put the last nail in the coffin of the Budget Control Act of 2011, one of the few remaining semblances of fiscal restraint left in Washington.

This week, the House likely will vote on a plan to raise the law’s discretionary spending caps by at least $357 billion for 2020-2021. As has far too often become the case in Congress, none of the proposed new funding will be paid for with cuts to other programs.

The country is over $22 trillion in debt. It is past time for Congress to get serious about spending reforms and prioritizing precious taxpayer dollars.

Democrats’ plan to raise the caps imposed by the Budget Control Act is the latest in a series of attempts to divert more money to programs and activities that the federal government shouldn’t be involved in. In the process, it would burden Americans with even more deficit spending.

Congress has a statutory duty to produce a budget resolution before April 15 of each year. The Senate Budget Committee at least tried to do its part by approving a five-year budget plan. The House is not making a legitimate attempt at developing a budget, a clear dereliction of its duty.

If I vote Republican, will it fix the problem?

Not only is no one in Congress willing to cut spending, they aren’t even willing to cut the rate spending is increasing. In fact the new economic theory in vogue among the left is that there is no downside to spending trillions of dollars in imaginary money every year.

That reminds me, noting that one of the very few constitutional powers that the states have expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds to decide domestic policy is to run the US Mail Service (1.8.7), most federal domestic policy based on stolen state powers, please consider the following.

When the states wake up and repeal the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments, they need a provision in the repeal amendment that prohibits political party support of federal representatives.

After all, how many political parties does it take to run the mail service?

I say none. No political parties needed.

The states will remain free to shoot both feet off with political parties.

To answer your question, patriots need to primary as many career Republicans as we can in 2020 elections, and hope that freshman Republicans not only support PDJT, but also read FRee Republic.

Budget, We don’t need no stinking budget.

We created the Federal Reserve cartel precisely so we could spend whatever we want, whenever we want.

“If I vote Republican, will it fix the problem?”

Not based on the results under the last 3 GOP Speakers - Hastert, Boehner, and Ryan. No failed programs cancelled, no attempt at zero based budgeting, no prioritization of spending, no end to baseline budgeting with built in inflation. The tax code continued to become even more complicated with special provisions for favored industries, companies, and even individuals. Plus with the House and Senate under GOP leadership we continued to begin the new budget year with last minute omnibus spending bills and the drama of government shutdown. Neither GOP or Democrat lawmakers have any desire to be fiscally responsible.
