Like Borat and Julian, I expect that Pamela Anderson is good friends with him also.

They may be worried that this guy has the encryption keys that authorities are worried will be released. The files themselves are already out there.

A senior Ecuadorian official says a Swedish software developer living in Quito and who is allegedly close to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested as authorities attempt to dismantle a blackmail ring that in recent days had threatened to retaliate against President Lenin Moreno.

Interesting. Here's what former Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa is saying about it in the Russian press, FWIW: "In 2018, [US Vice President] Mike Pence visited Ecuador, and he and Moreno agreed on three things. Isolate Venezuela, which Moreno did with great enthusiasm. Drop a case against Chevron, which he gladly did as well. And hand over Assange", Correa said. The ex-president suggested that WikiLeaks’ decision to publish materials related to the so-called INA Papers leak, which sparked a corruption scandal around Moreno and his family, was "the latest straw" in the relations between Assange and Quito. Notable, WikiLeaks has noted it had not been behind the leak itself. "Moreno knows that he and his family will go to prison for corruption and money laundering. So before he leaves, he wants to harm as many people as possible, including Julian Assange […] He decided to ruin another person before going to prison. He is moved by pathological hatred and in his desire to take revenge, that's why he gave out Assange to the British police", Correa argued. The former president recalled that back in May 2017, when Paul Manafort, then the head of US President Donald Trump’s campaign, traveled to Ecuador, Moreno offered him to hand over Assange "in exchange for financial enrichment from the US". Correa characterized Moreno’s decision to hand out Assange as selling the activist’s head to the United States, where he is likely to face death penalty.: Ex- Ecuadorian President Correa: Moreno's Assange Stunt Driven by Personal Gain

It appears that he was arrested by Ecuadorian authorities not U.S. Is that right?

Well.... Ya’ gotta admit that if Wikileaks published info. seriously harmful to Moreno, Assange’ protection was bound to vanish...

Yes, that's plausible. Business Insider is describing Assange's arrest as a skirmish in a political battle between Moreno and Correa, who are former allies: This simmering political clash may have led to Julian Assange's ouster from Ecuador's embassy.

The despotic governments are determined to shut down people who want to expose their wrongdoing.
Flip side of the censorship of free speech on Facebook, Google, Apple, etc.

When speech is criminalized and suppressed, they will begin advancing their anti-human agenda again.

I can only imagine that more than one person has that encryption key. They wouldn’t build it with one point of fail.

Time to release the key and let a huge amount of disinfecting sunshine out there. When the key is released, be ready to rapidly download everything that hits before it’s scrubbed like New Zealand!

A day of honesty about our governments would be amazing to watch.

Might have known neocon Pence was in the mix somewhere. Without Assange and wikileaks, he probably wouldn’t be vice president.

And he goes down there wanting him arrested. He’s a tool.

I know this is way to early for Trump to get involved. Though I expect a pardon by the president.

Trump said, " "I don't know anything about Wikileaks.... I've seen what has happened with Assange. It will be up the attorney General to make a determination" "

Sounds like a reason for the US to leak the Moreno info so Assange would be released under more favorable terms to the US...

I do find it hard to believe that he doesn’t know anything about wikileaks. “Not my cup of tea” he said.

he knows about wikileaks. He isn’t going to say anything to the press at this point. It does make sense to play their game. At least i hope so.

No, the leak was published by Wikileaks some time ago. Moreno likely dallied, trying to squeeze $$ out of the US. That failed, but I imagine he got some other concession — maybe a promise of asylum if (more likely when) he gets the boot.
