A 5-year-old boy who fell almost 40 feet after being thrown over a third-floor railing at the Mall of America on Friday remained hospitalized Saturday, police said.
At a noon news conference, Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said the family of the boy, who remains hospitalized at Children's Hospital Minneapolis, has requested privacy.

I agree. If they can be helped back to a normal life, let’s do it. But if not, get them off the street into some kind of supervised living arrangement where they won’t be able to harm the rest of us. Too many times a person is routinely exhibiting abnormal behavior, and our society just lets it pass until one day they take it to the next level. By then it’s too late for the victim.
Rabid animals should be shot. So should predators that target the weak & helpless.
If the jails are full they can hand Aranda over to me, just a short drive up 35. I have a basement with a nice coal room and a lot of leftover fiberglass insulation to keep him fed.
Certainly not unusual punishment and not really cruel either, I’d be housing, feeding and using a hose to flush whatever mess is made into the working pump there.

Years ago there was the story in Wisconsin(?) about the Cambodian(?) that thought because he was in the woods first to hunt deer - they were HIS woods. I forget how many people he shot - several though.
Found it - from Laos, killed 6, in 2004.
Very little info on the boy’s condition.

“I know there’s been some reports and some concerns about whether or not he is still alive,” Potts said. “He is still receiving care. We just want to acknowledge that this is a horrific situation. The family and this child are in our thoughts and prayers.”
Hanneman said the boy suffered life-threatening injuries.
“He has many surgeries ahead in his life to try to get back to a normal life for a young, vibrant boy,” Hanneman wrote.
Since when are parents ‘beating on their kids’ and what does that have to do with this story?
I’d say this case proves we should bring back public square hangings. It could be televised on every station who takes handouts from the government.
