Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she is on board with trying to impeach President Trump, a position at odds with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“I think you could reach in a bag and pull so many things out that are impeachable of this president. I support impeaching this president,” the freshman lawmaker told Yahoo News’ “Skullduggery” podcast Sunday evening.
Ocasio-Cortez said she is likely to sign a resolution introduced last month by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) that calls for Congress to launch investigations into whether Trump has committed offenses that would lead to impeachment.
“We hadn’t signed on when it was first introduced, but we probably will,” Ocasio-Cortez said of the resolution. “We’ll take a look into it.”
The New York Democrat said there are “many things” Trump has done that would constitute grounds for impeachment but she singled out violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution as the most egregious.
“I think it’s always been emoluments,” Ocasio-Cortez told the podcast. “It’s always been about that for me.”
The clause forbids federal officials from accepting payments from foreign governments without congressional approval.
A federal appeals court last month heard arguments from lawyers for Maryland and the District of Columbia that Trump is profiting from foreign officials who stay at his Trump International Hotel in Washington.
Ocasio-Cortez also said she believes Trump has committed tax fraud.

There are days when I think that AOC is an elaborate Andy Kaufman-esque prank on the part of Trump.
Reach in a bag? How about reaching in her bag-o-hammers and pulling out an inanimate object that has a higher IQ and higher credit score than Sandy the Bartender, Most Valuable Player of the Young Pioneers.
Wow she is now an expert in our tax laws. This from a 29 year old bartender who has probably only filed a 1040-Easy form her whole life. Go back to serving drinks and leave the complex thinking to those who can. You can’t.
Impeachment is, at the end of the day, a purely political process.
A POTUS could be impeached for picking his nose or combing his hair improperly if the votes were there.

How’s that investigation coming about she and her now Chief of Staff laundering money? Is it going anywhere or will it disappear down the memory hole?
impeachment is a political process, so all you need is a simple majority in the house to pass whatever you like as “articles of impeachment”, and you then need 2/3 of the Senate to vote that the person is guilty of the charges.
So yes the Dems could pass articles of impeachment for simply being alive, which is really what they believe in Trump’s case, he needs impeached simply because he breaths.... But you won’t get a conviction and removal from office for anything they do pass.
Impeachment was ALWAYS a non starter, red meat for the morons to keep them motivated and whipped up and get their votes, but it was NEVER a serious matter for this President.
