Lead scientist Prof Nenad Sestan, from Yale University, said: “The intact brain of a large mammal retains a previously under-appreciated capacity for restoration of circulation and certain molecular and cellular activities multiple hours after circulatory arrest.”

Oh, wonderful...

his team noticed that small brain tissue samples routinely showed signs of cellular life returning, even when harvested hours after death.

Scientist’s name isn’t by any chance “Herbert West”, is it?

“Ive devised a way to resuscitate dead pigs.”
“How long does it take?”
“About three days.”
“For the benefit you get, isn’t that a long time?”
“Yeah, but what’s time to a pig?”

The issue is consciousness, not cellular activity. Once oxygen is stopped to glial cells they switch to a different energy generating system, but for a limited time only.

Eyewitnesses said Lazarus had been dead and entombed for four days, yet Jesus called him back from somewhere. The consciousness of Lzarus was somewhere not interfaced with the decaying brain of the dead body. [Hint: Jesus healed the decay AND restored the interface.]

Groan....I have for years made it very clear I was not to be cremated, no organs removed or embalment...just keep me very cold for at least a week to be sure I am really dead so there is no chance of pain. The soul will have left at the moment of death....who really knows...

Yep, as long as two brain cells still work, that’s enough for one to decide that he is absolutely, positively a democrat.

To: yoe; cuban leaf

Yeah, cuban leaf mentioned that as well. I’ve been leaning to cremation myself, but I’ve got to admit, this makes me wonder a little bit. BUT there is no guarantee that any other form of disposal would be any less agonizing or terrifying, particularly since these researchers had to flood the dead brains with oxygen, nutrients, etc., just to get some of the cells to spark back into a state of being undead. And even there, they’re pretty sure there isn’t any consciousness involved. So for me, cremation is still it... Gulp.
