Trump had the authority to fire Sessions at any time that he wanted to. He never did. Sessions resigned after serving nearly two years as AG. Moreover Sessions had given Trump a letter of resignation at the time when he recused himself. Trump returned that letter to Sessions two weeks later marked “denied”. Occam’s Razor sends a message a lot different than what people think they are seeing.

He didn’t fire Sessions because Congress would have thrown a hissy fit and retaliated by refusing to support ANYTHING that Trump brought forth to make our country better - because their loyalty to that worthless geriatric scumbag is higher than their loyalty to our country because he’s ONE OF THEM.

There is zero evidence to back that claim despite how often that nonsense gets repeated around here.

The idea that Trump is or was afraid of offending the meanies in Congress is one of the more laughable ideas ever floated.

Trump never once gave any excuse for his not firing Sessions. That “he was afraid to cross Congress” stuff is pure invention without the slightest evidence that Trump was motivated by it.
