I disagree.
1) They aren’t unified in the gut and the heart because that takes spine and these progs are finger-to-the-wind types obsessed with their Social Credit ratings.
2) They have been fighting for a century and had to assassinate one of their own because he threatened to expose them all. There have been an equal number of R or D Presidents since 1921.
The culture has definitely gone to the left in the past 100 years. Not all of that is totally negative, IMO. At the current moment, the extreme libertine flavor of leftwing culture is engendering a huge backlash. The future could see a significant pendulum swing towards the traditional mores of our culture, although I grant it will be relatively small compared to where we have arrived.
Nancy is irrelevant, again, IMO. She is at the end of her career. More importantly, everyone on the left is about to experience their come-to-Jesus moment, when they will be called upon to answer for past behavior and statements. This will exacerbate their internal split. Steny is a squish, so the last person who yells at him has the most influence. If you watch him in joint appearances with Nancy over the past year, he is always giving her disapproving side-eye and it is often also stink-eye.
You are buying into their own PR, just as they are.
I will bet on no impeachment, which is not to say the House progs won’t give it an unsuccessful try. The electorate is fatigued and disgusted on both sides. Registrations in swing states show leavers from the left and joiners to the right. I cannot recall another time in the past 60 years (period in which I paid attention to politics)when there were three (3) major groups (Blexit;Walk-Away;Jexodus) publicly walking away from the prog party. In addition, this is not just a US phenomena. The EU (and Canada) is splintering along the same Nationalist/Populist—Globalist—Totalitarian lines. There are nascent populist, anti-globalist movements in South America. Africa and the Middle East are seeing conversions to Christianity, which is a foundational ideology for nationalism/populism, as opposed to global authoritarianism.
We are definitely living on a cusp of history. Right now, I see more weight and mass on the nationalist/populist side of the divide.
