I wrote a thesis paper on the 19th Century religious movements in Upstate New York. Along the Erie Canal. Been dubbed The Burned Over District. It was ground zero for the Evangelical 2nd Great Awakening led by the likes of Charles Finney...But it was also the founding grounds for Joseph Smiths Mormonism before he and his polygamist following was forced out to Utah.
There must be something in the water...
The water, no; the spirits around there yes
That you would group Finney with Joseph Smith is either telling of your ignorance or a screwed-up view of religion in general.
Charles Finney was a treasure of the Lord. Wish we had more of his like nowadays.
