Explosions have been reported at two churches in Sri Lanka as Christians celebrate Easter.
There are also reports of an explosion at at least one hotel.

The suicide belt was invented back in the ‘70s by a Sri Lanka separatist group, the Tamil Tigers.
The Tamils are a minority in Sri Lanka and they are mostly Hindu. They hate the majority Buddhist Sinhalese, but it’s about political separatism rather than religion.
The island is 70% Buddhist, 13% Hindu, 10% Muslim, 7% Catholic/Christian
“Diversity Is Our Strength”, said no Tamil Tiger ever.
Sri Lanka is just getting over a decades long civil war and the Tamil Tigers would attack Christians from time to time.

initial reports of at least 80 people injured
Attacked churches, hotels frequently visited by tourists
Sri Lanka security official says 6 near simultaneous blasts hit 3 churches and 3 hotels frequented by tourists, said police reported Associated Press.
How come explosions are never heard at mosques?

Happy Easter Christians!
Went to Sri Lanka in 1994 the day after a LTTE suicide bomber took out one of the Presidential candidates in Columbo. Interesting time to go into the capitol while it was basically under martial law. Every bridge, every major road intersection had a squad or so of Sri Lankan soldiers. Interesting trip.
As terrible as it is for those that died, at least their pain is gone. All of the people with life-long injuries. And of course many more with life-long images of terror in their minds of children, loved-ones, friends....
