In case you've lost track, today is the 49th Earth Day. And, unless you've just awoke from a long, long hibernation, you know that the imminent demise of the planet by "carbon pollution" is a top, top dread by leftist environmentalists.
One fact you may not know is that the imminent carbonaceous demise of the planet is a definite reality a political reality. It is definitely not an objective reality.
Of course, we old-timers have heard this all before. From the first Earth Day events in 1970, which I attended on the lawn at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa., to present-day extravaganzas, the Earth's destruction at the hands of abusive man has always been front and center.

[[ So how many carbon credits were cashed in for the true believers to travel far and wide to the “really important” gatherings?]]
Why should they all get to create massive amounts of CO2? I say we should all burn tires to match their CO2 output
What flavor Lenin-cake did they serve this year?
Carbon doesn’t pollute. Carbon is an element that enters into chemical combination to form complex carbohydrate molecules that are used by living beings. Carbon is essential. They mean CO2 pollution, but CO2 isn’t a pollutant. It is the by-product of respiration and an essential ingredient for plant life.
Polluting is dumb, but there will be no death by CO2.
Werkin’ on it.
April 20 was Hitler's birthday. April 21 was the supposed anniversary of the founding of Rome. April 22 is Lenin's birthday.
All three responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent people. Not sure which of the three caused the most deaths.
We must all boycott National Parks which are major polluters, Mt. St. Helen, Yellowstone, etc.
In 1970 they were warning of a new ice age.
Today, Monday, April 22, is Erff Day, apparently.
Secular environmentalists need a day to celebrate their religion, to celebrate their god, er, goddess, er, deity, Gaia. Of course, it absolutely MUST be close to Easter, the most important Christian Holy Day, because it is, in their eyes, a struggle between the God of the Bible and their god.
I got news for them. I read ahead, and I know how it all turns out. They lose, for eternity.
The creator of this paean of praise to Marxist suppression of private ownership of land, resources and the fruits of a capitalist, free market system and a thinly veiled celebration of Vladimir Lenin’s birthday is Ira Einhorn. Einhorn was Marxist weasel who murdered his girlfriend Holly Maddux and stuffed her body in a trunk in his apartment in Philadelphia in 1977. He split to France and was laying low until he was caught, extradited and is now serving a life sentence.
I don’t have any tires to burn this year so I set fire to the conservation area behind my house. Cleans up the litter, the small shrubs and weeds.
“All three responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent people.”
The radical greenies say that humans are to blame for all of earth’s ills, so we should be eliminated to “save the planet”. I guess Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, et al., were just ahead of their time. IMHO
We had 59 1/2 years left to exist back then.
Whereas we only have 11 1/2 years left to exist now.
If only we had heeded the warning.
We should also honor the founder of Earth Day, Ira Einhorn. He murdered his girlfriend and stuffed her body in a trunk in his closet. Eventually, her mummified remains were found by police, but he escaped to live in France for about 25 years with his new girlfriend. He was finally extradited back to America and convicted of murder. So honor him as the good, murdering leftist he is.
Erf Day is a complete fraud and as fake as Kwanza.
Rome gave us "... the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health..."
Lenin destroyed the concept of self-determination.
The Greeks had wine before the Romans. Even earlier, Noah made wine. But the Anglo-Saxon word for wine comes from the Latin word for wine.
I’d celebrate Earf Day, but I’m still hungover from celebrating Hitler’s birfday a few days ago.
