Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas), a 2020 presidential candidate, said that a "conversation" about reparations for the descendants of slaves should take place in "every community" and he committed to signing a bill to study the issue if Congress passed the legislation.
O'Rourke was asked if he would support compensation for the descendants of slaves. In his answer, O'Rourke explained that he discussed the reparations issue with Bryan Stevenson, a civil rights lawyer and political activist. O'Rourke said Stevenson explained that he might not be able to have a "Truth in Conciliation Commission like you had in South Africa" and "may not be able to force the coming together" that's starting to take place in Rwanda.

I don’t see him using his millions for reparations. He should do it first to show the rest of us how good it is.

In 2001 some people did something.. but slavery from centuries ago.. well someone has to pay for that.

The debt is paid.
One will kill the other, or maybe establish dominance over him in ways that will not be pretty.
Watching some of the town hall with 5 candidates last night (voting from prison and forgiving student loans) and now this statement about reparations from O’Rourke all goes to show just how desperate the DemonRats are.... and in the end, there are hopefully enough thinking electorate for all these whacky ideas to backfire spectacularly.
It’s all about pandering to the left which we see every election. The conservatives do the same going to the right.
The Dem Primary is a race to have the greatest appeal to their wackiest common denominator.
If he’s really in favor of this...write a check. Right now.
Reparations will definitely move us closer to CWII. Right now the movement is toward white discrimination, pushing reparations will propel this country further into the black abyss of discrimination mistakes our country has made.
That said, it's insulting to black citizens to present them as people with their hand out for anything they can get. Most black citizens understand that no one today owned slaves and no one alive today was a slave.
This plays on ugly stereotypes of the black community.
