Former Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) does not think it is a good idea for Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) to launch a primary challenge against President Donald Trump.
“No, I wouldn’t — I wouldn’t bother if I were him,” Boehner replied when asked about a possible challenge in a Wednesday interview on NBC host Chuck Todd’s podcast Chuck Toddcast, according to Politico Playbook.
The former House Speaker noted the president still remains popular nationwide going into the 2020 election, putting him in prime position to fight off any potential primary challenger. “There’s this 38 percent of America that’s very big supporters of President Trump. And you know, they’re gonna show up and vote for him,” the ex-lawmaker said.

Yup, the poor old GOPe is stuck with Trump and there’s nothing they can do about it.
Kasich is just stupid enough to try and siphon off votes.
If he’s crazy enough, he could go independent and really cause major harm.

I don't know if Weld put him up to it, but they could probably keep Kasich off the campaign trail and comfortably baked for the next year and a half.

He’d likely draw far more Democrat support than Republican.
Boehner is correct on this one.
Kaisich will do it, just so he cn travel and stuff his face on other people’s money again. maybe take home some extra $$$ donations to his “campaign” after he gathers donations for a few months then bows out.
Kasich knows he cannot win so don’t be surprised to see him as the loserterians candidate with Flake. He wants to be spoiler and it Could be trouble. If he got 5% or more in the swing states it could tip them to the Rats because I expect it to be close.
The only shot Kasich has is to jump on board with Biden or Bernie, other than that he should just go away
