THE OPERATION AGAINST GENERAL FLYNN STARTED LONG BEFORE THE ELECTION
Front Page Magazine ^ | 25 April 2019 | Michael Ledeen

Byron York seems baffled by the discovery in the Mueller report that the FBI was after General Michael Flynn long before the intercepts of his telephone conversations with Russian officials during the post-2016 election transition. By that time, Obama Administration higher-ups in the intelligence community were warning Trump that Flynn had suspicious intimate contacts with the Russians, possibly in violation of the Logan Act. As Byron writes:

"Mueller strongly suggests something else was up. Obama administration intelligence officials "were surprised by Russia's decision not to retaliate in response to the sanctions," the report said. "When analyzing Russia's response, they became aware of Flynn's discussion of sanctions with Kislyak. Previously, the FBI had opened an investigation of Flynn based on his relationship with the Russian government. Flynn's contacts with Kislyak became a key component of that investigation."

The FBI investigation of General Flynn goes back several years, perhaps as far back as 2015. This was undoubtedly because the intelligence community didn’t like Flynn, who had changed the way intelligence was collected and analyzed on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, taking it away from Washington military and intel officials and relocating it in theater. His methods worked well, but they greatly irritated the Washington-based intelligence crowd. When Flynn was the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), it became known that he intended to audit decades of covert budgets, checking to see if the funding, especially for CIA, actually went to the intended recipients for the approved missions. If you ask me, the campaign against Flynn that so surprised Byron York is best explained by the intel community’s eagerness to lock him out of their system. It was reinforced when Flynn criticized Obama’s Afghanistan policy in sworn testimony to Congress.

LTG Flynn got Obama's rath when the general changed the focus of intelligence analysis from DC to having it done by in theater military analysts. And this also upset Obama's flunkies, Brennan and Clapper because they lost putting their political stamp on what they wanted the intel reports to say.

The in-theater intel analysis may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back, but here’s Gen. Flynn’s unforgivable sin: “When Flynn was the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), it became known that he intended to audit decades of covert budgets, checking to see if the funding, especially for CIA, actually went to the intended recipients for the approved missions.”

This was undoubtedly because the intelligence community didn’t like Flynn

I have been told by someone who knows Mike Flynn quite well that this statement is correct and that the Intelligence community leadership undoubtedly conspired to destroy him.

In addition, Flynn was going to audit the CIA budge to see where the money went. Right there they were going after him.

By that time, Obama Administration higher-ups in the intelligence community were warning Trump that Flynn had suspicious intimate contacts with the Russians, possibly in violation of the Logan Act.

Yet John Kerry waltzes off to have coffee with the mullahs in Iran, and there is no talk of violations of the Logan Act. In fact, the MSM praises his efforts to "save the Iran deal" from Trump.

Or it could have been because Flynn was a favorite of the Russians, to the point that he was sitting at Putin's right hand at the RT dinner...

Sundance mentioned days ago that General Flynn was a marked man by the Obungo criminal cabal and that they were making extensive use of NSA intercepts for political purposes on a regular basis years ago.

Nothing surprises me anymore about this horrible band of traitors.

Of all functions of the military, gathering intelligence on potential and real enemies is perhaps the one most important to planning and execution, and above all should be free of political considerations in its analysis. Once the analysis is worked out, then political considerations may be taken under advisement. The objective of the military is to make the operation of the enemy in the battlefield essentially profitless to them, while still maintaining superiority and mobility in the area. Getting calls from upstairs to stop or pull back for political considerations is really devastating to the morale of the commanders and troops in the field.

In WWII. Patton jumped the gun a little, and got ahead of Field Marshall Montgomery, by crossing the Rhine as opportunity presented itself, and he was racing toward Berlin in a triumphant sweep, when he was called back by a panicked High Command, on orders from Roosevelt and his coterie, in cahoots with Stalin, so the advance would be “coordinated”, which meant that the Russians got to Berlin FIRST.

I think Patton, once his momentum got up, would have gotten all the way to Moscow.

And yet, Obama cleared him...and IIRC shortly before Trump took office.

Flynn also irked McCabe because Flynn backed an FBI agent who accused McCabe of harassment.

Where was your sarcasm tag?

No sarcasm.

I don't think Flynn was working for Russia but it would have been professional negligence for the intelligence community not to monitor the interactions of the ex-DIA Director with Russia.

Particularly since RT was using him because he was publicly criticizing the US.

Flynn had to be neutralized. He knows where the bodies are buried and was seen comparing shovels in the WalMart.

Some reports indicate that Flynn was briefed by US intelligence before that trip and debriefed when he came back.

About that period of time I saw Gen. Flynn on TV in uniform, he made the statement that he had been at war with Islamic fundamentalists for about ten years.
I immediately jumped-up and told my wife to take a good look at the General because you would never see him again; since Obama was Pres., and would not tolerate anyone using Islamic in connection with our problems.

So the Obama administration going after Flynn does not surprise me. - Tom

I wouldn't be surprised if he was, but I would be surprised if the intelligence community wasn't monitoring the interactions.

Surprised the CIA didn't just assassinate him. It's their way.
